Arman's Restaurant — Restaurant in Calumet Township

I'm 40 years old and have been living in Miller for majority of my life but I've never seen a level of nastiness like I did today in Armans. I ordered a 2 polish special and immediately went to the restroom. when I returned I noticed one polish was done and the second was getting prepared. I seen a polish with a large amount of onions on it. I informed the young lady the order should be everything but onions because I am allergic to onions. once she looked to the cashier as if I was lying or something the cashier another lady informed her she made a mistake and the orderwas indeed everything but onions. the young lady then grabbed both squeezed the buns and pulled out the polish of both wiping them off with nothing but the gloves she was wearing. when then grabbed two new buns and proceeded to make the order right. when I asked about the method she said that's the way we do it here. I said but I'm really allergic to onions and you had pounds of onions on there. what about the juice from the onions. what if I leave here and get an allergic reaction to it or worse. they both just shrugged they shoulders. when I asked to just get my money back I was greeted with an attitude like well this the way its always done. I mean it's your business run it the way you want but I can't take that chance with my life after I just watched you do it. I know in closed kitchen maybe even worse may happen but I'm thankful I saw it happen and was able to just walk away. I'm here visiting in Merriville from Las Vegas and I was told about this spot. I must say the food was great worthy of 5 stars but the nasty attitude and disrespect from the female cook (brown hair) was worth 0. I was taken back by the way she spoke and her mannerism. It was clear she isn't a people person but if someone is kind to you and asking you questions about your items just answer them. Instead she threw down her paper and pen caught another attitude after the gentleman advised her he would take over. The gentleman actually stated ,"that's why I take the orders and she just cooks". Please go for the food indeed but avoid the lady with the brown hair. Nasty, rude, communication and personable adjustment and skills need to be tweaked or let her go. Not gonna lie, I just loved the old school lunch counter vibe of this place. Stopped up here on my way to the beach for lunch. Owner and staff were just nice, fun people chatting it up with their customers. It's obvious they have a lot of regulars.

I ordered an Italian beef and fries. The sandwich was very good, if not traditional. No giardiniera, but there was sport peppers, and cheese, too. It was also served with a side of a heavily-herbed jus, sort of more like a French dip with extra steps. I'm not complaining, though. Like I said, it was very good, just different.
