Urbane Cafe — Restaurant in Camarillo

My sister and I were loyal customers of the Urbane Cafe Camarillo location and have had good experiences in the past. But, as of late, both of us, during lunch have had a questionable experience with the same employee. I had gone for a pickup during lunch, and people before me went up to the pickup order area, looked for their order, picked it up and left. But, when I had approached the pickup order area, the employee stood near me and asked what was in my order. The other customers did not receive that same treatment. I was being monitored, and I was treated as if I would steal someone’s order. On a separate occasion, my sister had gone for a pickup. Not knowing there were forks in the bag, she went to the plastic fork section. The employee saw her and rudely said, “Can I help you?”. After my sister mentioned she was getting forks for her food, the employee rudely said, “There’s already forks in your bag”. My sister was also singled out and monitored, and the employee automatically assumed she was doing something wrong. It’s unfortunate that we have both experienced this, and because of this we, as well as people near to us do not frequent the location anymore. My sister and I do both happen to be Black. We haven’t had trouble with other employees, but I hope there can be training for all employees, or this specific employee on how to treat all...

Mushy sandwiches. Meat all in the middle of the sandwich. Had to rearrange the ingredients. No dill pickles. Only bread & butter pickles. So I asked them to leave them off. Of course they still on the sandwich. Ordered Pastrami. No traditional dressing to go with it-Neither Russian or Thousand Island. What sandwich shop doesn't have the traditional dressing. This place tries to be too cute with it's ingredients. Bought 7 cookies. 2 were under done. The others were stale and brittle. At $3 each it was ridiculous. Outside does NOT allow for 8 people to sit together. Worst of all the bathroom had urine on the floor and couldn't be used. There were 6-7 employees and only 4 other customers there. We went back to use the bathroom about 20 minutes later. They told me they didn't have time to clean it yet. All things considered it is not a healthy. In fact the, Health department should be called. This is a FOOD establishment after all. Would recommend to skip this place. Urbane Cafe could be considered "False Advertising". Also noticed that the newest reviews were over 2 years old. Perhaps things have gone down...

first off the food was great it’s always great every time I go they always make it like the last time. My problem is that I went to order and a person I assume the manager was on her clipboard writing stuff down at the register area and she didn’t acknowledge I was there at first but then asked what would I like, I ordered a southwest and a drink. She asks if I wanted my receipt and I take it and walk away she continues to write on her clipboard. During the whole process I felt rushed and didn’t feel welcomed as I should’ve been. I get my order and they forgot my drink. No surprise since the manager was clearly busy doing temperature checks. I had to go up and get my cup and again the unwelcome demeanor was apparent. As a manager why are you on register? Managers aren’t supposed to be helping customers they worry about the flow of traffic and making sure customers are helped. I know she was busy doing manager stuff but she can always have someone else help me, I would’ve got a better experience. This place is good for a delicious bite I hope you don’t get a manager that worries about her work more than the customer...
