After walking the K9 Kids. On the way home I popped into Natural Grocers. As I was driving home I remember passing by these food karts so; I thought let me cheque them out. The very first kart is Thai Sunflower. Me loving Thai food it was a no brainer. I knew almost from the time I walked in there that I was going to go with Thai. I ordered I think it's called Pad Cashew nut, with tofu , no bell peppers sub broccoli, Thai hot. The positives the portion is spot on. Comes with rice. Out the door price $15.19. when I was picking up the food I opened the box and asked the lady if it was spicy and a chap popped his head out and said "I put 5 chilli's in there" and nicy asked me if I wanted more. I responded no but it ended up being not as spicy as I like it. heres the skinny. The broccoli and other veggies were too over cooked. And also their was too much sauce. So much sauce the the floret part of the broccoli was sopping wet with the sweet oily sauce; which towards the middle and end of the meal made it just about inedible.... So next time I would be sure to request less sauce and please don't let the veggies get overcooked. You'll see what I'm talking about in the photos I m going to post. 3 stars is for the food. But I promise I will update on my next visit and the rating may change. Try for yourself and please share your experience on Google. Honestly I'd like to give 4 stars but the sweet greasy sauce at the bottom of the container was really a big no no. Because it made all the veggies and tofu sweet and just not pleasant and difficult to want to eat.,...
Read moreAlthough I have yet to order anything from another food cart than my favorite at this particular pod (Le Bistro Montage), my wife is quite a bit more adventurous, and went with the Tom Kha soup (chicken, spicy), and some salad rolls. While she remarked that the salad rolls were a little bland and uninspired, the Tom Kha was a hit with her...for the most part.
Although I stated that our order was "for here", we were given "to go" packaging. For the salad rolls, this was fine, as they were easy to unwrap and dig in to. The Tom Kha suffered a little bit from this, because the real meat of the dish (including the meat, of course) had mostly settled to the bottom. It was still good, but not nearly as good as the leftovers were on re-heat, when everything was mixed in correct proportion in a proper bowl. Then, the dish really started to shine, and made my wife even happier, which is always a good thing!
Her order came faster than mine did, so no complaints about the speed of prep and delivery, and the price was quite reasonable, even compared to other carts at Oak Tree Station. Service was friendly and patient, especially when I had to call my wife (who was watching the kiddos) to confirm which protein and spice level she wanted, which took a hot minute.
As far as Thai food carts go, this one may be called Thai Sunflowers, but in our experience, (almost) everything is...
Read moreMy family of 4 ordered 4 different dishes. Waited for 45 minutes, only to see people ordered behind us taking food away. Went asking why it wasn’t our turn yet, was told that the food is made in batches rather than first-come-first-served. We have to wait for other same orders come in before our food would be made. After expressing our displeasure for not being told upfront and originally being told a 15-20 minute wait, guess what? The man in the back cam to the front and yelled at us. I decided to get my $ back since they do not deserve our business. Beware of the “customer service”!👎🏾
BTW, all items on the truck menu there is $2 more than the...
