2 and 1/2 stars. Since there is no half in the ratings, so it got 3. Average American-Chinese restaurant, served up some familiar dishes that people in America is familiar with. It generally has no style of any region in China. This hodge podge approach would satisfy the mass, but bothers the heck out of the "foodie" whom would look for some style of cooking to pin on. We stay away from its big fat egg rolls, and its greasy fried rice. Instead, we asked for basil chicken, garlic pepper shrimps, and stir fried bok choy. We ate them over steamed rice. The bok choy was the best. Hot wok did wonder for the vegetable. Basil chicken and garlic pepper shrimps are passable. A tad salty, but did not taste so bad after all. Service was good. Food came out promptly. We did not have to ask for anything.

Hong Kong Chinese Restaurant at Harvard Square is a true gem! From the moment you step inside, you're enveloped in the lively ambiance that perfectly complements the exceptional cuisine. The menu offers an incredible array of authentic dishes, each prepared with the finest ingredients and bursting with flavor. The General Tso's Chicken and Crispy Duck are personal favorites—simply divine! The service is top-notch, with attentive staff who ensure your dining experience is flawless from start to finish. Whether you're here for a quick bite or a full dinner, Hong Kong Chinese Restaurant never disappoints. A must-visit for anyone in the area!

The service was nice, and the staff were friendly. The atmosphere had low lighting which I wish was brighter. On the whole, the food was good for a fast food Chinese style restaurant. I enjoyed their eggplant in spicy sauce, their spicy dry green beans, their egg friend rice, and their vegetable tempura. The tempura came with an apple sauce for dipping which was unique yet delicious. The fact that this place is open late is really nice. I recommend if someone wants an affordable meal that will fill you and make you feel warm on a cold day.

The restaurant service and food was fantastic. However, we decided to check out the upstairs bar for karaoke night. The bouncer, NED, was a nightmare. To put it in perspective, we are Harvard parents who had friends in town. We were obviously not there to cause any problems. To start, NED would not allow my 22 year old son in law in the small bar, because he is British, and would not accept his ID card. He demanded a hard copy of his passport. He does not typically carry his passport around so he had to go home. NED then proceeded to harass our group for no reason at all. We tried to take a picture with the Fireball bar mat, because a close friend of ours died unexpectedly last week, and we were toasting her favorite drink. NED abandoned his post and took the sign from us. He had an attitude as if we had vandalized the property. There were 6 of us. He stared us down for all 3 hours we were there. One of our friends was standing up on the foot rest of her chair, to have a better view of the dance floor, and NED randomly came over, grabbed her arm, and said, "we don't pay medical bills here." It was bizarre, but she sat down, dumbfounded by the strange comment. A few minutes later my wife proceeded to the dance floor and stood on a stool, that was placed in the middle of the dance floor, and NED grabbed her arm and said, "if you get on there again, I will escort you out." She firmly informed him that she was not at all worried about him and advised him to stop putting his hands on 50 something year old women. After that, he made his way back over to our table and started to clear our full drinks! He picked up my beer, which was half full, and started to walk away with it. I told him that I was not done with it and to put it down and leave us alone. He set it down, made a crazy, angry face and started clearing more of our drinks. I told him to get away from our table. I have no idea what this guy's problem was or why he was targeting us. I am a former bartender, and bar manager, and by no means a complainer, unless it is warranted, but this was absolutely over the top, rude, scary, unprofessional, uncomfortable, unnecessary and weird. We informed the manager, Jeffery, and the bartender, who informed us that there have been many complaints about NED. He tried very hard to ruin the night and acted like a very dangerous person. We would love to return to the bar, but we certainly will not until they can get the insane bouncer under control or, better yet, get rid of him. He is not the type of person that should be in a position to feel a sense of power. Someone will get hurt. The food and service at the Hong Kong restaurant, downstairs, was perfect. I wish the review was not associated with them, but that is how Google is set up. NED is lucky that we did not retaliate or file a police report. All bar patrons should avoid...

So many people have already complained how terrible the food are in the restaurant, well, because of the limited choices of Chinese restaurant, I still come here from time to time. Today, I notice they hire one new waiter (the only male Chinese waiter here), who was serving me tonight. He behaved very strangely in the beginning. Durning the conversation, he kept backing up and hard to focus. And he left when I was still talking! Finally after coming back, he had hard time communicating. Whatever I asked, he just kept saying "it is yummy, you get it"... Then he started to nag and complain. Ironically he was talking so broken English so I couldn't quite get him but only guess from his face. I was very nicely asking him to repeat his word, and all of sudden he snapped and screamed to me "you leave"!!!!!!! When I complained this to the front desk (manager was not here at this time), he passes by and repeated that again "you go home, not in the restaurant".

I am a medical scientists and have a feeling this guy serving customers in the restaurant doesn't have a stable mental condition. When the manager came he only blamed the waiter but no further action was taken. Right after manager took off, this waiter was talking out loud "fire me fire me".... Not knowing why this restaurant would hire a person with potential mental issue but is definitely not safe to eat there.

I will definitely not go there with my friends anymore, but also strongly suggest customers not going there too, at least for now before this waiter is leaving - I am really concerned for his mental issue and worried he may do something to the food sitting in the kitchen. (During the waiting, the other customers sitting next me also expressed their...

I was recommended this place by a friend and i decided to try it out. I ordered food with the app for my friends and I and we had waited past the “expected” delivery time. I understand that this is only an estimate and with crazy weather, people may be running late. I called to ask about my order when it was 30 minutes late. The person over the phone told me that the delivery driver would be on his way shortly. After about 55 minutes I called again to ask where the food was again, and the person over the phone was clearly upset, stating that they had called me ten times and that I didn't answer the phone calls. I never received a phone call. The phone was then passed off to a woman, who explained to me the situation. I asked her to re-read to me the phone number they had given the driver, because I was checking the app and looking at my phone number and it was correct. She read the phone number, and it was incorrect. She then said “someone must’ve put it in wrong” without apologizing for the mess that wasn’t even my fault anymore. To add on to this stress even more, the delivery driver was unbelievably rude. He was upset that I “hadn’t” answered his phone calls, and when i tried to explain to him that someone gave him the wrong number he scoffed at me. He was also upset that I did not give him a cash tip. I had already tipped on the app but he was very adamant that he receive a cash one as well because he had to come back with the food a second time. Overall, this was such an upsetting experience. The way the situation was handled and the way I was spoken to, yelled and belittled by the delivery driver was just not...
