I never post reviews but I had to for this. I have ordered a couple of times before from this place, have enjoyed their food, and have returned to this place whenever I felt like eating some cozy Korean food. I had no problem with the food. However, when I ordered and ate their food this time (ordered kimchi jjigae), I had a really bad stomach ache all night long. I thought it was unusual but because it wasn’t anything too serious, I attributed it to something else I ate that day and just let it go. I saved some to eat the next day, only to be absolutely disgusted at what I found in the food. There was a COCKROACH in the soup. At first I thought it was a piece of vegetable or meat floating around, but once I picked it up with the spoon, it was clearly a cockroach with legs and everything. I immediately lost appetite and couldn’t believe what I had eaten. I then turned to the one-star google reviews to see if any of them shared my experience. Surprise, surprise—multiple people have witnessed cockroaches casually crawling around in the restaurant, some even approaching people’s plates. This is NOT ok. I’m not an expert on cockroaches but I do know that they are notorious for carrying and spreading diseases. I have never been so disgusted in my life—if multiple people have addressed concerns about hygenie in a place that serves food, someone should have taken heed and fixed this issue. As mentioned in the other reviews, the fact that the employees/employers dismissed customers’ concerns about hygiene is a serious issue. Please do...
Read moreBeing Korean-American, I'm quite a critic when it comes to Korean food, and Boston leaves a lot to be desired when it comes to good Korean food. I ordered takeout today, super easy mobile ordering through Square. They texted me when my order was ready. Upon arrival, I was impressed with the modern awning, although the interior isn't something to write home about (but it's as advertised - simple, casual). I was greeted by a typical Korean middle aged woman (ahjuma) who had an apron on - it felt like I had gone to my mother's house for a home cooked meal!! The food itself was pretty tasty. I ordered soondubu jigae - something I'm very particular about - and I was pretty impressed, but certainly not the best I've had; I usually seek a deeper seafood base. The kimchi fried rice was very tasty with a perfectly cooked fried egg on top. The kimbap was very good and fresh. All in all, I really enjoyed the homestyle approach to the food at Kimchi Kitchen and will definitely be eating...
Read moreI ate at Kimchi Kitchen last night. What a delightful restaurant! The woman running it has a very kind demeanor. I and my companion both had vegetarian Bibimbap, which was quite good.
I do wish they had more vegetarian options on the menu. There's one (maybe two?) item suitable for vegetarians. And, of course, the kimchi may not be vegetarian - I wish it were.
I'll go back again but with so few vegetarian options it won't be as often as I might otherwise.
Oh, and it gets very crowded, which is a good sign for the owners. I wish them many years of good luck with this...
