July 2024: Good but I need to update my 5 star review again. I saw that this restaurant raised its prices. This is one of my favorite restarants.. but $21 for 3 tacos is outrageous. $11 for that pathetic tres leches that's usually sloppy and torn apart. I asked this restaurant for cheese and I was handed basically a hand full of cheddar cheese - who eats microwaved cheddar? And why do restaurants not have a cheese that actually melts? I have watched this restaurants quality basically enter the depths of hell and charge me for the ride there. I understand the need to raise prices, but maybe with a little marketing that wouldn't be necessary, you're really just turning ppl off. I emptied my cart bc their pictures look horrible and I told our group that $1 extra for the best birria is worth it for our large order but when I saw the prices went up (I'm used to 14.95 in store) I just lost all credibility and emptied the cart. This food is so good but the portions and quality are terrible and the order is always wrong in some way, no 'birria sauce' no paid avocado. The restaurant is good but it isn't nearly THAT good and when you go inside, the service has never been worse. I've been to this location maybe 20 times in person and likely about 20 times via doordash. Never ever questioned the price; but across the board?? Id rather get my fix closer to when the restaurant closes. That's what happens whenever I leave a review about price, idk why. I hope this place gets better, I've been there 7 times in the last 2 months, in devastated that I'll never go back. No sir conditioning, flies, a bathroom that's in the kitchen. No real on price, the blender doesn't even make smooth frozen drinks. Get well soon, is it's that serious. I've set an alarm to check it out in a few minutes. Be well. I think this place is pretty authentic and has some things you sometimes don't get... Like spicy avocado sauce. In Boston, it's rare to get "queso" and I'm mortified by the ball of cheddar or Colby cheese that was presented to me as "queso". There was so much of it in the food also, which I had never experienced before. I found it very weird to eat this concoction but the food tasted great but so much cheese and then so un-authentic. Literally a hand full of cheese put in a broiler. Salty greesey cheese. Very very disappointed. The drinks were also subpar. Frozen drinks on their featured menu came out warm, there was not enough ice and too much alcohol. I liked the taste but it made the consistency horrible. Due to the lack of ice it just melts and gets a froth from the blender. That mixed with temperature mixed with essentially crushed ice... Yikes. I'll try again but really shocked. I've been about 10 times togo...
Read moreI don't like to slam a business because the families that own these establishments work hard to make a buck but this place got on my nerves. my office has been here a total of 10 times or so. we order takeout once a week from this place and the food is really good. The service and business model however are lacking and why I will not be returning.
A few weeks ago I called in an order and was told 20 minutes. I waited 15 minutes and went to grab the food for the office. when I got there they rang me up and there were no issues, I was told it would be a few more minutes. I sat waiting patiently as they were busy for roughly 20 minutes before I was asked what my order was. At this point, they realized they forgot to prepare my order, the cashier promptly wrote down my order and placed it in the kitchen for the cooks to prepare. I waited another 15 minutes before my order was ready. Never received an apology or a token of their gratitude and they just played it off like I was born yesterday and it never occurred. I wasn't thrilled about it but I chalked it up as human error. let's face it, It happens and we all have bad days.
Last week the office ordered take-out again as we usually do every week as the food is fantastic here. During this trip, we noticed that the prices had gone up on some of the items (some by 3.00) we ordered, but we were okay with it because the food is always good. When I got to the restaurant for pickup I was told that someone added a burrito to our order while I was en route. No problem. So I paid and returned to the office only to find out that nobody ever placed an additional order and it must have been some kind of mistake. Also, the food portions were now shrunk. I called the restaurant to let them know there was a mistake with the order and was told to bring back the Burrito for a refund.
This place has really good food but they need a lesson on how to retain loyal returning customers. They won't miss us I'm sure but they need to work on some customer relations skills.
I wish these business owners the...
Read moreI have been a fan of this place since they first opened. Great authentic Mexican food for good prices. We’re from LA and that value prop is ubiquitous there but rare here. I ended up getting severe food poisoning from some shrimp tacos here a while back so it took me a while to want to order again. I put in a pick up order for a breakfast burrito, asking for light rice. With fees absent tip, it was 20 dollars, which is crazy but if it was good, I’d be able to understand since the cost of doing business in the Boston area is astronomical and I am sympathetic to that. I arrived 25 minutes later to an empty restaurant and it wasn’t ready, so I put in an additional order of chips and guacamole to bring home to my husband. It was almost $13 so my expectation was that it would be a sizable portion. Order was up at around 35 mins and I headed home. We got in and opened the bag to find the most pathetic portion of guacamole. It was so small we both just burst into laughter. I bit into my burrito, which was 4/5 rice and almost no bacon or egg. Honestly I’m just tired of the enshitification of everything along side the crazy prices. I used to order from this place once a week and having given it another chance after getting...
