Updated review: The owner's response tells you everything you need to know. It appears this establishment is owned by snobby hipsters that feel entitled to up charge for sharing their air. I bought a bundle of spinach for $14 here, and the following week I got a bundle of spinach from Siena Farms BPM for $6 (both organic). As someone who was raised on a farm, I can tell you there is no justification for price gouging.
To the owner: sure more is more, but wine is intimidating for a lot of people and your employees would do well to pivot away from their snotty behavior seeing as they also do not have the wine knowledge to backup the attitude. If I find their attitude off-putting as a seasoned sommelier, I can only imagine what regular customers are feeling. As the owner, you should take this feedback and correct course. Natural wine is meant to be accessible to the people, not gatekept by pretentious hipsters. It is clear you do not know how to take criticism and choose to deflect. All the best to you.
Original review: We recently moved to Boston and I have heard good things about this spot. The maple crème was phenomenal and definitely worth stopping in if you are already in the area.
However this store, much like the rest of Cambridge, is far too pricey. Unless farmers in Massachusetts are millionaires, I fail to see how this pricing is reasonable.
I was excited to poke around their wine selection as I’ve worked for Jenny & Francois and was a somm in NYC. These people do not know anything about wine. It was very disappointing. I would suggest Wine Bottega in the North End. Stellar selection and employees are humbly...
Read moreThe stars are mainly for the store itself - loved the arrangement and many local/New England brands and products. So great to see them being promoted at an indie shop and with a great feel to it! Unfortunately my visit there wasn't as great. We popped in briefly as some friends had been raving about it, and after a short time I found some crackers I wanted to try. There was only one person working and from the time we walked in until the time we left she was solely devoted to this one other customer who was looking at the wines. Other people came in and she didn't even look up.After waiting several minutes at the counter, I had to put the item back and leave as we needed to be somewhere :( The customer service is probably really good, but in this case it was a little too good. Part of the problem was also that you couldn't see from the wine section (which looked amazing!) to the front counter. Maybe put another person on for Sunday afternoon/evenings? I'll definitely check it out when I am in the neighborhood again. This was disappointing but definitely not a reason...
Read moreI’ve been wanting to come here for a while after hearing they have maple soft serve, and it did not disappoint! The maple soft serve is delicious and they even have maple sprinkles. A real find outside of Vermont. My husband is from Vermont and he agreed it’s an excellent maple creemee. They had vanilla and chocolate too on the day we went.
They have lots of special pantry items like gourmet marshmallows as well as other basics like produce. You can tell that a lot of thought went into the selection of items. As I came to write this review I saw that someone else said the employees are unpleasant — I couldn’t have had a more different experience. The employees I conversed with while I was there (there were 3) were all friendly and happy to help us. I actually had such a nice interaction that I felt compelled to write up a review. We...
