We visited Mr. Bartley's Burger Cottage a few years ago and found it to be an amazing and iconic burger joint right in front of Harvard Yard! We overheard a Harvard tour guide speaking about the perfect burgers that have been served here since the 60's so we had to find out what all the fuss was about!
Staff: The Bartley family opened the restaurant in the early 60's and have been running it ever since with a friendly and fun atmosphere. The staff are also very friendly and are very attentive to their customers!
Food: When we visited the menu was made up of a massive variety of burgers all names after famous people and while I cannot remember the name of the burger that I got, I do remember it being amazing! Freshly ground beef, fried onions and chunky sweet potato fries! I'd imagine that the menu has changed since then however, I bet its still full of amazing burgers and tasty sides!
Layout: Mr. Bartley's is a great restaurant and it is decorated with loads of posters, bumper stickers, sporting jerseys, etc. providing a fun atmosphere for all to enjoy! They have little little signs pointing to where famous people once sat when they visited.
Famous Faces: The restaurant has been frequented by locals for many years as well as the very famous! Some of the famous faces include Johnny Cash, Jaqueline Onasis, Bob Dylan, Al Pacino and Adam Sandler just to name a few.
Overall Opinion: Mr. Bartley's Burger Cottage is a famous and iconic burger restaurant in Boston. No matter if you are just visiting Harvard, attending Harvard or simply just in the area, I highly recommend that you stop by and grab a...

During our visit, we opted for takeout due to a scheduled guided tour of Harvard, but the experience was nonetheless memorable. The burgers are substantial, crafted with high-quality ingredients and a touch of local charm that elevates the dining experience. Each burger is a work of culinary art, thoughtfully assembled to ensure every bite is as satisfying as the last.
A friend who lived in the area had recommended Mr. Bartley’s to us, praising not just the food but also the vibrant atmosphere of the place. He was right; the energy inside is just as delightful as the food. While the prices are slightly high, the burgers justify every penny with their exceptional taste and quality.

Read moreWe went on a Thursday during lunch time. There was no line. The decoration of the restaurant is so cool and funny. The burgers’ names are interesting. They are named after famous people. Me and my parents (3 people) ordered two burgers to share. Overall, this is a place I will visit again next time I visit Boston.
We ordered the Trump burger. When the burger was served, I was astonished at how big the burger was. It had two cheeses and two patties without any vegetable (e.g. lettuce, tomato). The patty was thicker than any patty I have ever had in the US. We ordered the burger to be cooked to medium and was really juicy, but it won’t make the bun wet. The bun was so soft. This burger can easily serve two people and let people fully enjoy the patty.
The other burger is the Jayson Tatum burger. It has a single patty, which is the same as the one in Trump. It has mushroom, arugula and cheese. The cheese and mushroom make the burger even more juicy and provides it a richer flavor.
I really like the burgers and they are the best burgers I have ever had in the...
