If you're looking for a high quality, detailed tiki-bar experience then The Dive Club is the place to go. The theming and atmosphere of this place are top-notch. Our waitress told us that the owners were inspired by Disney when designing The Dive Club (It is very reminiscent of Trader Sam's Enchanted Tiki Room) and it shows in the level of effort that was put into the theming.
There is a great selection of tiki drinks and the two we got were strong and tasty. The food wasn't anything spectacular but it was still very good. They didn't have any souvenir tiki-mugs for sale, but they did have a very cool Dive Club themed tumbler that I was happy to purchase.
The one aspect it was missing from the full tiki-bar experience, is that there seemed to be no drinks that activated corresponding special effects in the bar. It looks like the place is set up to have some special effects and I've seen some reviews that mention them, but when I asked our waitress she said they didn't have any. However, we were there for a late lunch (3 PM) so I suspect they don't start until dinner service.
All in all, if you like tiki bars or just want a bar/restaurant with a really cool and highly detailed theme, then I definitely recommend...
Read moreI really like going to the Dive Club for a few reasons. It may sound odd but the first reason is the server Autumn. Finding great servers these days is very difficult but this woman Autumn has been able to handle complete restaurants by herself and she does the job that nobody else in Cambridge does. My crab soup was delicious and had plenty of crab in it and not too much flour thank goodness. The calamari were okay with a little bit of spice but the pieces were so small that the coating took over as opposed to tasting the actual calamari. My husband's jerk sandwich looked terrific and the coleslaw was a Milky one with a bit of vinegar. The little neck clams at about 20 clams and was very tasty. The drinks are always fun at the Dive Club. We didn't have...
Read moreWe took a trip to the Dive Club this evening in the midst of the “Glizzy Festival” downtown Cambridge, MD (Had to google up what the hell a glizzy was.) Anyway, the food was OMG! out of this world fabulous. We’re locals and know good seafood. We had conch fritters, smoked swordfish dip, scallops and lobster Mac…… and raw, perfectly shucked, oysters. I CAN NOT WAIT TO EAT OUR WAY THRU THE REST OF THE MENU. WWII reminiscent rum concoctions and long neck beer selections are offered. The associates are attentive and menu knowledgeable and the atmosphere, decor and light/sound effects were impressive. Not a TV in the place and the only mirror is in the bathroom. What a fabulous asset to DoCo! Kudos to that...
