Mosaic in Camden is a place that I still dream about since leaving our honeymoon last week. Long story short, we struggled finding a local dining establishment that I felt safe enough to eat at being gluten free. After some rough dining experiences (due to cross contamination issues for GF) in the area, we found Mosaic and gave them a call to inquire on if I could eat there or not. They make their delicious food from scratch--including their corn tortillas daily--and since only a few items contain flour, we decided to give it a try. We were blown away on our first night there. Our server Christina was absolutely wonderful. She understood my allergy and was able to make recommendations and modifications to some of the dishes so that I could enjoy them with no issues. We had a fantastic experience the first night there that before leaving, we made reservations for the next 2 dinners which was the rest of our honeymoon. It was a delight coming back each night and trying new dishes.
This isn't your ordinary Mexican-inspired type of place. In fact, they made numerous dishes from various cuisines that it was clear that they are simply experts on flavor, no matter where the inspiration is drawn from. They served dishes from all across the board from tacos to paella to fried chicken. We were obsessed with their salsas, particularly the salsa verde, which we ate every single night with warm corn tortillas instead of chips. The carne asada tacos are something we have never experienced before, and we consider ourselves taco connoisseurs! The steak is marinated in a blend of citrus juices and it tastes incredible paired with their guac and pickled onions. We also tried the chicken tinga tacos and veggie bowl, which were so packed with flavor. My favorite dish was their street corn and street corn dip. It's one of those flavors that you just have to close your eyes and soak in every moment of each bite! We also absolutely love the chocolate pot de creme for dessert. Perfect dish to share to round off the meal. On top of that, the cocktails were delicious and flowing.
We loved everything from the welcoming setting, the flavorful food, and the incredible service. I am so sad we live 8 states away and can't come back for a while, but I am counting down the days...
Read moreI went to Mosaic with a friend to support his Photography he had on display and to have a bite to eat. After spending a few moments there, I was immediately waited on by a very helpful staff and owners. The place is very clean. It's got a cozy vibe that I could really dig. We had the Mezcal Margarita, and it launched into a whole Mezcal conversation and tasting. The owners came out and talked about their recent trip abroad and were kind enough to let us try some very rare Mezcal Tequila. Did you know you can infuse an alligator/ crocodile into Mezcal??? Ya, I didn't either.
We got the street corn appetizer. Wow... it was amazing, so delicious. The owner let me know that the chips are made to order there, and they taste like it!!! No stale chips at all and it's not the kinda place that you have to ask for more chips because they didn't provide enough. They're a heaping basket.
After such a fun experience we decided to order the tacos. Man, that meat they have is so tender... sooo good. It felt like a really nice upscale kinda taco, but yet simple enough too. I live in the area, you're not gonna find a better taco around.
The art is really fun on the walls and the photography too! On their art wall they thought it better to have art that is very nice, but affordable so people could actually buy them.
Also noticed the Bruce Springsteen albums on display above the bar... very nice touch :)
Thank you Hannah and Troy and the Mosaic Team. I really appreciated my experience there and I can't wait to...
Read moreI am so grateful we found this restaurant while we were vacationing in Camden 4th of July weekend this summer! Everything about our experience was wonderful.
We were staying at a bed and breakfast in town, so it was a quick 5 minute walk for us. Upon stepping inside, I was immediately taken with the decor (especially the artwork), the delicious smells, and the really nice vibe.
There were 2 seats available at the bar so my husband and I snagged those. We love meeting new people and we had a chance to chat with a group of 3 young men who were also visiting the area.
The restaurant is owned and operated by a husband and wife team with the husband running the bar and the wife in the kitchen creating phenomenal food. He was very friendly and easy to talk with as we waited for our dinners.
Our appetizer was an order of chips and salsa. Hubby ordered the carnitas tacos and loved them. I chose the veggie paella special and am so glad I did. Absolutely outstanding and enough there easily for 2 to split it. I also had an horchata to drink. Everything was perfect and flavorful.
This was one of my favorite meals from our 2 week vacation. I only wish we didn't live in another state 6 hours away! If we are back in the area, we will be sure to stop here again.
Highly recommend you do the same. Try making a reservation if you can. There are a limited number of tables and this is a popular place with both locals...
