Canal Boat Lounge — Restaurant in Canal Fulton

I have been here and eaten many burgers and other apps. All good. Today I tried the Lenten fish special. It’s only offered during lent but I wish they would make it a permanent Friday thing. You can get 2 or 3 pieces of fried cod. I opted for the 2 piece. Comes with fresh cut fries, the typical small container of cole slaw, and 3 hush puppies. This was 12$. The fish was seasoned well and lightly fried to perfection. Their fries are always outstanding and today was no exception. The slaw was just the right amount of creaminess and the veggies were crisp. It’s a little on the bitter side but it was a nice change from other places that are way too sweet or way too heavy on the vinegar. The hush puppies were also perfect. It also came with their in house made tartar sauce. It was very good. I was detecting dill and capers. Not expected in a place like this. At first glance the place underwhelms for sure. But try the food. You will be pleasantly surprised. And the staff is always friendly and accommodating. It will also be easy on your wallet. They give generous portions and...

I would say you get what you'd expect for a little operation, but then I would be lying. What a pleasant surprise I have whenever I stop in. I usually stop in after golfing so I'm pretty thirsty. Well their ice cold coolers keep the bottles nice and cold. But the real surprise is the food. I have sat in there enjoying a cold one, watching the TV and here comes the cook up from the basement with a whole pork loin. He proceeds to personally cut the loin in front of you and then grills it right there. Still not convinced? Let me tell you something. I have ordered that pork loin sandwich a couple times, but the wing and sauce is excellent too. By the way, if you order fries, they take one of those huge Idaho spuds and put it in one of those hand operated potato cutters and cut thick fries in front of you. Food was great. I ordered a beer, burger and sweet potato fries. Bartender needs to be more observant. They didn’t bring my fries. Then nearly after finishing the burger I asked where they were. He thought he rang them thought. Thought! I sat with an empty beer the entire time I had my food. I was sitting directly behind the register. Couldn’t really miss me. When I first got there, I went outside. Waited and waited. Had to ask other patrons if they serve outside. There needs to be a sign on the door to order then go out to eat.
