La Gelati Canton — Restaurant in Canton Township

Friday night at 10:30, my son and I were coming back from a performance and we really were craving dessert. Well, Carvel, Menchie's and DQ were all closed, so a google search lead us to La Gelati. We lucked out.

First, I wanted to say that we got there at about 10:45, and unlike most restaurants, they didn't seem annoyed that we were there so close to closing time and didn't even rush us while I called my daughter to see what she wanted. They have such a big selection, I couldn't decide what I wanted, so I asked the cashier what she liked and she actually was able to answer, which is so rare these days.

Ended up ordering: fruity pebbles waffle sticks, twix sundae, oreo sundae and a chocolate covered brownie. It was all absolutely delicious. It's a bit expensive but all of the bakeries/ice cream places in the area are, so it's not too bad relative to that.

I am definitely going to go back - probably a dozen times - to try all the different stuff they have....

Called to make my order and was immediately told to order online because they sent taking any orders over the phone. ok, cool. Made order for a sweet tooth Sunday because the dearborn locations always make it yummy. Made order, go 20 minutes later to pick up and.....not ready??? Waited another 15 min for my order, letting the staff working know that I made an order online... they forgot to make my order 4 times...4 people came and made orders and got them made, and I'm just standing there... waiting for my online order for the past 20 min now. Then they look at me and go oops!! Ok got my order, take it to the car and wowza they just gave me straight up ice cream with nothing on it! No brownie, no ferroroche, no chocolate syrup..nothing..I was very disappointed in the canton location services. Other locations are amazing but this location just lacks customer service and quality. I oated 10$ for a cup of ice...

DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME! I was hoping to enjoy some dessert, but what I experienced was complete CHAOS. 4 workers, 1 cleaning out the yogurt, 1 playing on his phone, 1 making ice cream desserts the speed of a turtle and 1 taking order after order. Just letting the orders back-up. Not telling customers the wait is literally 25 mins. Then, not filling the orders in order of taken. So you have to wait and wait, and watch random ice cream come out to random customers. They take the easiest least work first. So frustrating. Truthfully, the Italian Ice was good, nothing great. I watched the guy cleaning the machines literally use his bare hands to scrape yogurt drips off the spouts. Disgusting. The place was packed, which would lead one to believe - Hey this place has to be good, look at all the people. Don't fall for that lie. FAIL, FAIL, FAIL. Save yourself heart burn and money. Go...
