If you've read any of my post, you know that I love to come to a locally owned restaurants. When you go to a business of any kind, that's local owned in the owners on premises that have skin in the game. You know you're going to get a good product and good service. Such as the case here at Pureta de Oro. Uriel and Reyna I've done a great job setting up this former pizza restaurant building into a great Mexican restaurant. The food is authentic. The flavors are wonderful. It took me back so my trips to Mexico. They take great pride in their food using authentic recipes. Greater tension to detail and everything they do. They also take that to the level of their drinks there. Horchata which is usually made with rice. They make theirs with oat which gives a better flavor. More healthy for you and they use a lot less sugar. The drink is light. Very good on the pallet. Not the sugary sweet thick stuff you get at some other places. I'd also goes for their mango drink. You can see the picture of both. Today we had chicken fajita for lunch and the burrito for lunch special. I found the beans to be perfect. Slight bacon flavor the rice. Very light. The sauces spicy but not overly spicy. The ground beef burrito was a good flavor. Very good taste and not greasy and it looked like a good quality meat. We also took a brisket and a chicken gordita home and ate those two quick so it couldn't get a picture of those but they were fantastic. So we found that authentic Mexican restaurant here in Canton better than the other ones. It is now our go-to when we were out in this area. You would do well to stop by and try that out. You won't be sorry.

The newest and greatest AUTHENTIC MEXICAN food in Canton and this Texican (Native Texan with Mexican roots) HIGHLY APPROVES! The Barria tacos are the best I’ve ever had. Be sure to ask for the dipping broth. Everything is homemade and delicious. Did I say it was authentic? It is! The tamales are the best I’ve had in state of Georgia. Barbacoa is difficult to find in Georgia but Puerta De Oro has Barbacoa tacos and they were so tender. Everything is flavored correctly. We ordered the fresh margaritas made with Herradura tequila and they did not disappoint at all. They were so good, we ordered a second round! Reyna, the owner greeted us like family. We were so satisfied with the meal and friendly atmosphere, we returned the next night with 16 of our Lake Family Friends. Lis was our waitress and she was so sweet and attentive to our every need. This is our FAVORITE LOCAL SPOT for authentic Mexican food. Do yourself a favor and get there quick. You will not be disappointed.

A lesser known gem in Canton! Very tasty, generous portions, and reasonably priced food. Fresh, hot chips and slightly spicy salsa are served to each table. I ordered a chicken burrito which included chicken, rice, black beans, pico de gallo, sour cream, shredded cheese, and comes with a small cup of queso dip. My mother ordered a combo number 3 which is 2 enchiladas (of your choice) with beans and rice, while my father ordered steak fajitas. We also got a chicken torta to-go for my husband (forgot to take a photo of his before he dived in). Everything was delicious, hot, and filling. If you are in Canton and looking for good Mexican food at a reasonable price then I highly recommend Puerta de Oro Taqueria. Probably the BEST mexican restaurant in the area!

Well, I hate to be the first one to leave 2 stars, but it was just ok. I read all these reviews with 5 stars and really thought the food would be tantalizing to my tongue. My youngest son ordered the California burrito (I didn’t taste this). My oldest son ordered #1 Combo: beef enchilada, taco, beans, and rice. I ordered the Texas cheese dip (appetizer), the Birria tacos w/beef dipping sauce, and a frozen margarita. The birria didn’t taste like much. I think frying it gave it a bit of a burnt taste. The beef dipping sauce had no flavor so I tried stirring it up thinking that may help, nope it was still bland. The Texas cheese dip; I like it had shrimp 🍤. I think I only had two in the cheese dip and had no flavor, the meat had no flavor, the taste of the cheese was good 👍🏾. I should’ve just order regular cheese dip. The frozen margarita 😔, oh the margarita was my biggest disappointment! I love my margaritas, and theirs was weak in alcohol. The only kind that’s frozen is a pre-made mix and it’s not tasty nor frozen enough for me. I like them strong and thick. It’s the first time I’ve left without trying to finish my drink. My son’s rice was plain/bland and so were his refried beans. I didn’t want to try his enchilada, I figured it would be plain and bland as well. It was mediocre and taste like something I can get at any old Mexican restaurant. I was sooo disappointed because all these 5 star ⭐️ ratings had me thinking I finally found a great Mexican restaurant like back home. I don’t know what these other people are talking about unless I came on a bad day….it was Cinco De Mayo. Let’s discuss the plus; excellent service, my waiter brought me fresh hot tortilla chips without my asking. I was very appreciative! The tortillas for the salsa was very delish! The place is clean and the service wasn’t slow. However; I left wishing I went to 7 tequilas or La Parillas for the 4th. I was trying to give the new place a try instead. Again, sorry I had to be the one to leave less than a 3 stars, but it was just ok for me. Nothing to call home about! I haven’t decided if I...

The food is fanominal, but the amount they give you and for the price they charge you is absurd.

I came in one day, 1st time ever eating here. Was originally wanting the taco truck down the road, but they were closed. Me and a friend came here instead and got 2 orders of street tacos. 1 flour 1 corn, with an order of Pico to go. This cost us over $42.00

We get home and the tacos had very little meat, and very little cilantro, onions.. hardly anything! Was mainly the tortillas.

The taste was amazing from what we got to experience... but I payed $14 plus tax for each order of street tacos and were still hungry by the time we were finished. As I mentioned, we also ordered an order of pico. $ 12.00 for a small container, like side container size...... for $12.00

This place is good, but not that good. I will NOT be returning for the simple fact I have 2 Mexican restaurants near me, one which me and my friends frequent (viva Mexico in hollysprings by publix) They are cheaper and give much bigger portions than this place!

This place should be ashamed charging the prices they do for the little amount of food they give you. I would give 0 stars if I could.. but again. For what little food we got to experience... it was...
