Okay at best. We are new to the Canton area as of January this year. We had a place we loved down in Acworth (Bamboo Garden) for Chinese food. So far we've tried Rice by Laurel Canyon, Golden something over near Kroger and now Canton House. I haven't been please really with any of them for different reasons. Canton House is very convenient for us in terms of proximity; however, the food wasn't too good. We had neighbors who recommended it so we gave it a try. We ordered the Dinner Sweet and Sour chicken and an order of spring rolls. All of it was greasy--too greasy for us. The most disappointing aspect for me was the chicken, or lack thereof, in the main dish. I had one "nugget" that was entirely breading and no chicken at all. The pieces that had chicken were overcooked and greasy. We were really hoping this would be the one because we've tried all the Chinese around us and aren't keen on any of them. ☹️

First time here! Enjoyed lunch special while my car was being washed next door. A bowl of fried wontons was placed on the table while I perused the menu. Shortly after I ordered one of the many lunch specials, a generous sized cup of Hot and Sour Soup arrived. It was neither as hot (spicy) or sour as I like, but it was tasty and chock full of crispy vegetables and chunks of tofu. Entree was General Tso Chicken, fried rice, spring roll, and Crab Rangoon. The rice was boring, rice and nothing else. The good news was the chicken, it was abundant, more than I could eat, chunks of dark meat in a crisp light batter smothered in a delicious tangy dark sauce that was gently spicy. I brought plenty home all for about $10 with a 25% tip. I will be back.

So this is what really am on town and where I live we have no Chinese cuisine that's not thirty mins away so this was suppose to be a treat. Well I order shrimp fried rice with no vegetables. 10$. So literally all the shrimp you see on the plate is what I got. The rice tasted like it was old n they burnt it heating it up. I couldn't even eat it. I ate my shrimp promptly paid and left. Never again Sad cause this place use to be really good

This weekend my husband and I had the privilege of experiencing first class customer service. I’d never ordered from China Star, but they had some decent reviews, so we placed an online order and got confirmation for 35 minutes. An hour later I called back and was told they hadn’t even gotten my order. I then asked to speak to the manager.

Jessi took my call and promised she would do everything in her power to get to the bottom of this. She said that the restaurant had new owners who had just been in operation for a month, and they very much cared about customers' impressions.

On Sunday I was able to talk to the owner himself, Josh Wilson. He had taken the time to investigate the whole situation before our conversation and was able to tell me exactly what caused the problem. He had already put into place a solution to ensure that it would not happen again. He offered me a discount if we ever wanted to order from them again, so I decided to give them another try that evening. Josh took my order and assured me my food would arrive within 45 minutes, and so it did!

The egg rolls were fuller and tastier than we usually get at Chinese restaurants. Especially delicious were the chicken and broccoli and the fried chicken with almonds; both had sauces that were rich and flavorful with appropriate ratio of meat to vegies. The lemon chicken sauce was a perfect balance of sweet and tart and tasted very fresh, but through no fault of the chef, by the time it arrived at my house the breading on the chicken was soggy. I will order this dish again when I am eating the food at the restaurant where I can enjoy the chicken while it is still crispy. It just doesn’t travel well. Overall, the food was fresh and delicious, and the portions were very generous. Josh even threw in an extra dessert just for my inconvenience.

With so much negative in the world, China Star in Canton reminded me that there are people who really do care and who will take the time to make things right. I have a whole refrigerator of leftovers for the week to prove it.

If you go to this restaurant partly based on my review, please mention that Ann sent you. It would be nice for these fine people to realize how far great customer relations can travel. I promise that I am not getting any kickbacks from this review. I just want to appreciate genuinely good people.

As I was finishing this review, I got a call from Jessi following up with me to make sure I was happy with the food and service I received last evening. Now I am even...

After reading the reviews on here about how good the food was and AMAZING service I decided to check out the place today for lunch. I thought about to walking out the second I walked in and I wish I would have.

  1. When I walked in there were crushed up fortune cookies on the floor that the girl stepped on as she seated us. I thought surely she was going to sweep them up and it must have just happened. Nope. they stayed right there, smashed up in the nasty carpet the entire time.
  2. As the server was at the table next to us taking their order she said hang on and answered the phone.

*I should have left by this point, guess it was all the AMAZING reviews on here that made me decide to continue to sit there.

  1. Our server approached us and was extremely rude. I actually found myself over smiling in hopes of maybe getting a nice reaction out of her. Nope. When I asked questions about ONE dish,,,, she acted like she didn't want to be bothered. I felt rushed to order and basically pointed and said i will try the Mandarin Beef. Bad decision.
  2. When they brought out my meal I couldn't believe how much batter was on this beef. It looked like a funnel cake drowned in brown sauce. I cut through pieces trying to find the beef. I actually thought... maybe they forgot to add the beef to the dish? Then I found a tiny sliver. It was that bad.

*I hate sending things back so I decided to just order another dish. The rude server took my new order and went back to the kitchen. Keep in mind that I never once complained.

  1. The owner or manager or whoever she was then came to our table asking if I wanted it to go. (Why she felt the need to come to the table I'm not sure) I said no thank you I will eat it here. Then she said she would have to charge me dinner price and give me dinner portion because it was after 3. By this point I decided not to get the dinner portion since I already had my soup and egg role. I told her no thank you and if I could just get a side of veggies that would be great. She told me she couldn't give me any vegetables. Really? No veggies?

LONG story short... Nothing about this place was good. Dirty, Horrible service, disgusting food and no desire to make the customer happy. If I could leave no...

I’ve been coming here for 2 years. Today I ordered a large vegetable combination with tofu. I NEVER HAD ANY issues in the past. Today, I get my order and make it all the way home and noticed that my order was incorrect. Meaning a small amount of vegetables. I then called the restaurant back and spoke with Sophia. She informed me to come back in so they could correct my order. When I got back to the restaurant, she charged me for an ENTIRE new meal. She claimed that I ate some of the food before I came in??? I’m appalled. Excellent food . Customer service was horrible!

To make matters extremely worst, Sophia actually charged me for more vegetables. In two years I’ve never had any issues and this being the 1st issue…I can’t believe Sophia didn’t try to correct my concern. The whole issue was not enough vegetables…very little.

In any event, I went ahead and paid for an entire new meal. Surprised that Sophia smiled as she told me the new price.

Friends and family, this is the fastest way to loose a customer in 20 seconds. I’ve told countless numbers of people how much I enjoyed this place. However, I’ll never return again.

Moreover, to ensure I heard Sophia correctly, I recapped everything back to her to clarify what just happened. Although, she opted NOT to ask additional questions pertaining to the photo. She simply characterized the photo as being eaten. She never asked about how it may have been titled in the styrofoam Container the food was placed in by her restaurant during my route back home. There were several customers around. The entire experience was embarrassing and extremely unpleasant. I wanted to be as detailed as possible as the event took place in real time, hence why I recapped the event back to Sophia. I was not given the opportunity to further discuss…I was just charged...
