I recently visited Cape Coral for the first time with some friends, and we decided to have dinner at FPS for our last night in town. We read good reviews and the place looked cute when we drove by every morning.
No one greeted us when we walked in and we kinda just stood there for a few minutes waiting for one of the many employees who walked by us to acknowledge us. Finally we went up to the bar and the bartender told us to sit wherever we'd like. The restaurant wasn't particularly busy at this time, but it still took about 10 minutes for anyone to come to our table and bring water.
We ordered drinks and apps. Eveyone loved their cocktails. The "Californication" was great. Apps came, no silverware. Had to wait for that. Gators bites were fine and we all enjoyed them. We also ordered the street corn deviled eggs. They weren't the best, and the feel and texture of the eggs led me to believe that they were made with the pre packaged hard boiled eggs. Little bit of a letdown.
We then ordered our entrées. We were enjoying our drinks so we weren't in the biggest rush, but the food took quite a bit of time to come out and we were starving at this point. I ordered the surf and turf, and before the waitress even put the plate down I could tell that something was...off.
The steak had this unappealing gray color. It looked as if it had barely been cooked, yet it had grill marks on it. I ordered it medium rare, but the inside was medium well...outside barely cooked. Seems like it was microwaved and then thrown on the grill to get the marks on the outside. I took one bite and left the rest. It had some odd flavorless "house steak sauce" on it. Shrimp was fine. Mashed potatoes were luke warm. I asked the waitress to take it back. She was friendly and apologetic, and asked if I would like to have them make it again or order something else, but at that point I was ready to go. She took my food off the bill and told me that a lot of people complain that the steak is bland and never cooked right.
To top the night off we used the bathroom before leaving. No soap in the mens room and my friend said there was throw up all over the toilet, and garbage all over the floor in the women's room. The place looks great from the outside, but it was not the kind of end to our trip that we...
Read moreI was absolutely appalled by the service my family and I received during what was meant to be a celebratory bachelorette dinner for my mother. We arrived as a party of thirteen and were seated at a table that was visibly dirty, with food remnants on the chairs and between the table’s crevices. I politely asked our server if she could clean the table, which she did reluctantly.
Throughout the evening, despite our group’s efforts to remain courteous and express gratitude, the server repeatedly responded dismissively with “mmhmm,” conveying both disinterest and a lack of professionalism. Matters worsened when one of our guests, who has a serious cheese allergy, requested her meal be prepared without cheese. Instead of acknowledging this dietary restriction with care, the server audibly sighed and rolled her eyes — a gesture both disrespectful and deeply concerning given the potential health risks.
When our meals arrived, two guests’ orders were missing entirely. The food that was served was mediocre at best, and the atmosphere was further diminished by the server’s demeanor, which included slamming plates onto the table. At the conclusion of our meal, she presented the bill, only to abruptly snatch it back and unilaterally add a 20% gratuity without explanation. When a guest requested to split the bill across multiple credit cards, the server dismissively asked, “Can’t you do it?” and then, most egregiously, signed a guest’s name herself — an act that constitutes forgery.
When I attempted to address these issues respectfully and requested to speak with a manager, the server declared that she herself was the manager. She then accused me of “having a problem from the moment I walked in” simply because I had requested a clean table at the start of our evening. Her hostility and lack of accountability were unacceptable.
My family has owned a condominium in this area for over thirty years, alongside several other families who also frequent local establishments. Needless to say, we were mortified by this experience, and I cannot in good conscience recommend this restaurant to anyone. What should have been a joyful occasion was utterly overshadowed by unprofessionalism, rudeness, and an alarming disregard for both hospitality and...
Read moreWe came here on a Saturday night while searching for dinner. When we arrived we had to park quite far due to the shared parking lot with several other businesses. While walking up we were immediately greeted by a friendly young lady who showed us to the outside bar. This is where my experience really became elevated… the mixologist Malakai instantly put menus in front of us and introduced himself, as well as the establishment. I initially ordered a vodka based drink from the cocktail menu, as well as the “Hot Honey Chicken Sliders”. I’ll start by saying the drinks here are top caliber, it is by far the highest class drink establishment in downtown Cape Coral. For my second drink I even asked Malakai to make something off menu, to my surprise he made me a purple aperol spirtz based drink that was unbelievable good. Honestly he should be making the drink menu because his off menu creation is now a part of my top 10 best drinks list…. Now the food… the sliders were top tier, the chicken was cooked perfectly with a nice crispy fry. I have been to Nashville many times, and the closest I would describe the flavor of their Nashville hot sauce is Aldeans on broadway. I’m excited to return and try the rest of their creative menu. They also had live music playing, which was incredible, the guitarist was very talented and played at a reasonable volume. My only gripe about this place is that they’re only open until 10pm on a Saturday, there’s so much potential with the quality of their service, it’s sad to see them close so early. In synopsis, I highly recommend FPS to anybody traveling through, living in, or planning to visit Cape Coral… to put FPS on...
