South Cape Diner and Breakfast Restaurant — Restaurant in Cape Coral

We’re on day 2 of our vacation and we decided to pay another visit to the restaurant. On our first visit the food and service was great! We were very pleased from the moment we walked in the door until we left. Day 2 (today) we decided to brave the rain and go back since we thoroughly enjoyed the food the day prior. The ambiance is nice and feels like home and you can tell this is where the locals go to get great food because it was packed today. While waiting for our food, we heard a man and woman scream, “WTH!” Now the restaurant has gotten quiet to find out what happened. The young man begins to feel the top of his head and we noticed his girlfriend doing the same. Come to find out, a dead mouse dropped from the ceiling on top of the young man’s head and landed on the table where they were enjoying their meal!! We noticed that no one from the restaurant apologized to them! The patrons that were eating their food suddenly lost their appetite. We were waiting for our food and my husband said,” we’re out of here!” The table near us with at least 8 people left while their food was being prepared as well. The hurtful and shocking part was that all the waitresses were standing in one area, close to the kitchen and no one checked on them. Everyone was like,” where’s management?!” A patron sitting near the table got a napkin and carried the dead mouse outside. All we could do was shake our heads. When we left, we went to visit another restaurant and couldn’t really enjoy our food because of the incident at this restaurant. They didn’t close for the day. At approximately 8:15am on 5/16/25 I Ordered a bacon, egg and cheese sandwich. As soon as I bit into the bacon, It tasted off. So much so I couldn’t swallow it. After removing it from my mouth, I immediately became nauseous and vomited into a paper towel as to try to be as considerate as I could, as I sat at the outside patio table.

When the server returned and asked how it was going, I said not good. I told her I had just vomited after tasting the bacon, I showed her the balled up paper towel which I was still holding in my hand. I said I think the bacon is bad, she grabbed the plate and walked towards the door and said “No, we serve bacon everyday!” She then returned with the check for the coffee. Just then a man in cooks pants walked outside to the trash container located in front of the neighboring business, looked at me and rearranged a plastic bread container next the the garage container. As he turned to walk back into the diner, I asked him if he was the cook, he said yes and continued to walk inside ignoring any further conversation I attempted to politely have with him.

I am genuinely concerned there is an issue with the bacon to cause an immediate reaction. I went to my car and called the restaurant to speak to a manager. No one answered.

I paid for the coffee and still left a 50% tip. You will never get my business again! Your employees poor response to a potentially harmful situation was beyond unprofessional and unacceptable in any industry but especially one in which people consume...

We had breakfast. The food was good. The service was terrible. The restaurant seemed clean. Our waitress had such a bad attitude. She literally threw down our friend's plate. It went sliding down the table. Our friend took it well and never said anything. I think after the people beside us saw it, they got up and walked out without saying anything or ordering. The two older men behind us were sitting patiently waiting to order. The man behind the counter finally went to their table and asked if they ordered. They said she took one of their drink orders, but not the others, and then never came back. The food took a long time to get. We were with our friends and didn't want to get up and walk out. My husband told me he thinks that must be the culture at this restaurant, and he didn't want to go back again because of that even though he liked his food because the man behind the counter was also rude. The waitress never brought my husband's drink. I asked for a straw for my tea. After about 15 minutes, my husband went to the counter to ask for the straw. After about 20 minutes after that, she comes out and throws straws down on the table and flew off. She was not attentive and never came back to check on us. Our breakfast turned out to run into lunch it took so long. By the way, they do charge some kind of service fee in addition to your bill. Our party was a party of 4...
