Applebee's Grill + Bar — Restaurant in Cape Girardeau

Never been so appalled at customer service IN MY LIFE. my husband and I placed a pick up order and went to the restaurant. The place says it's open until midnight or later (on the side of the doors) but when we got there the doors were locked. It was 11:20pm at this point. No bigge we just knock to get a staff attention. A blonde woman opens the door and so disrespectfully tells my husband with the biggest attitude that the kitchen is closed and basically shoos him away. He so stunned he turned around and walked back to me. He said he couldn't even get to tell her that he already placed his order he was so shocked so he's gonna go back. He knocked on that door and was PURPOSELY IGNORED by the same woman for about 15 minutes while he could literally see our food sitting on the bar packaged to go. I got annoyed so I went up there too and knocked on the door and she was legit ignoring us on purpose. When I got to the door she was literally right next to it at the hostess podium but was doing everything in her power to ignore him. There were still customers in the store. Finally When one guy walked out I walked in and I went toward the kitchen and asked Ms. Rude if she didn't see my husband standing and knocking at the door all this time. She says "well the kitchen is closed" so snooty I was taken aback. I proceeded to ask her again did she not see him standing out there all this time and he came back because we already placed our order and when I was telling her I already placed the order she started walking away from me and told me no I didn't see you im the only one here. I told her her attitude is disgusting and she replied "my attitude?" She was so rude I was appalled I could not believe it so instead of getting into an "attitude match" I went back outside to tell my husband how rude she was and that I didn't even want the food anymore. Mind you the whole time the food is sitting right there. Been getting cold for over 20 minutes at that point. My husband still hungry tried to go in and pay for the food (THANKFULLY I DID PAY AT STORE) I told him hell no I'd rather starve than eat anything from there at this point. Went with my Family tonight after a 4th of July celebration. First let me say, the restaurant was NOT busy.. Maybe 4 cars in the parking lot. Walked in, wasn’t greeted.. took 7-8min for the server to acknowledge our existence & come up to us.. Her name was Lindsey. She hurried & grabbed menus & rushed us to a table as if she was just SLAMMED and busy, she wasn’t.. The restaurant was literally quiet. Finally our actual server came over, really sweet guy actually but HE was the busy one. He had all the tables that were seated other than a couple by the bar that the Lindsey girl had. Took about 10min to get drinks.. Finally ordered, then took about 40-45min to get our food. My cousins steak was undercooked, my chicken was cold as if it had been sitting. Only good meal was the kids chicken tenders.. No refills.. THEN my cousin was like, “it’s okay, I’ll just eat the steak but I need some A1 to choke it down”.. Well our server was OF COURSE busy and waiting the other tables so my cousin just walks up to Miss Lindsey and asks for A1. She quickly snaps back “did you ask your server?” My cousin replied “he seems really busy” and Lindsey said back “Well I am too” and then proceeded to get her the A1 sauce with a side of unwanted attitude. We let it go, trying to be respectful despite how we was feeling at that point. Fast forward, I get up to go use the restroom, do my business and come out. Walk around the corner, low & behold Lindsey bout runs me over while she’s holding a hot sizzling plate of food that she’s about to serve..(I told the manager to PLEASE run the cameras back if they don’t believe me) She don’t stop to say excuse me, pardon me, “I’m sorry I didn’t see you there”.. NOTHING. Mind you I’m tall with bright red on, she seen me. So I loudly but subtly said EXCUSE YOU! Still no reply from her. And then went back to my seat. We paid our bill & left, because I was irritated & didn’t want to cause a scene in that establishment. I called the manager on duty to explain… She was pretty nice & took my email to send to the DM (allegedly).. Overall 0/10 experience, I didn’t even want to put ONE star on this review.. & Lindsey needs a job where teamwork & customer service aren’t an expectation because she’s severely lacking in both areas,...

Food was very good as it always has been for us. Was just my youngest and I during a regular Saturday lunch setting. We were not dressed to impress by anymeans. Mind you I'm a bald headed, bearded, overly tattooed middle aged male w a 4yo blondie who is hopefully the "baby" of the family forever. Back to issue at hand. The young lady might have been just inexperienced due to school kiddos just coming into town and all.. Thank you for at least working whatever the case. It just felt like we were rushed into every single thing. I just wanted a simple lunch w my little hard to please one as we don't get many alone dates. So rushed it definitely felt. Rarely do but feeling slightly put off from my empty glass of tea through most of my meal, I requested one to go if possible in leu of my refill which the server obliged and brought me out the same cup size as my toddler with my much needed beverage. The check was left very early in the meal, checking to see if we were going to pay or were "ready" to pay and being informed how to do so more than once was unnecessary at the least. The time came to pay and I being the delightful gentleman I am known to be chose cash after being informed that I pay on the tablet now several times or that she could take my card at anytime. Laid the cash under the bill and gathered our crayons and new tic tac toe paper. I could already see her excitement for the no tip as she was surely aware to have been wearing on my nerves. Instead of the usual bottom of 20% she got closer to 30. Don't judge the most likely "broke" and probably also "racist" white guy by appearance only. Hopefully her attitude will improve along w her quality of service. Probably has a personal history to back the reasoning for treating us as such shallow people and if so that is a shame. We still shouldn't hold others that may look similarly to the deeds they have not done. The whole judged on the content of character thing...
