To be absolutely honest, Chili's isn't a bad option. There aren't many food options that I enjoy here in Capitola because I just find many things bland and overpriced. However, chilis makes some decent food.
A word of warning - The first thing I ordered from here years ago was their sliders. Don't get the sliders. They are supposed to be mini burgers, but between the Hawaiian bread sweet roll bun, and the grilled onions, they are way too sweet.
The thing on their menu that I enjoy the most is the 3 for $10 menu. Their burgers are the best burgers I've had in Santa cruz (sadly enough). The bun they used was a nice brioche and the meat has a bit of char on the outside while being exceedingly juicy on the inside. I usually order mine medium rare, and get that perfect, subtle tinge of pink. The garlic aioli sets it over the top. The portions are fantastic too for $10. Furthermore, if ever they messed up on my order when I'm ordering take out, they always make it right. In the past on especially gracious occasions, offered gift cards and replaced the food items to remedy the issue. This is above and beyond service.
If you order to-go (which is usually how I do it) and get chips with your meal, they usually give you an entire bag of chips, the size you'd buy at the store but instead it's their fresh, thin, restaurant style. I really enjoy their thin restaurant style chips because I can't find anything exactly like them at the store. The one issue is that some bags will be overly salted, but it's not the end of the world.
Overall, I'm exceptionally pleased by Chilis at capitola mall. My experience is mainly with the takeout side of things. But in a city where I'm used to a single burger costing no less than $16 by itself and being dry and bland; chilis offering me a perfect burger, frys, chips, a drink, and salsa, all for roughly $11...
Read moreI never write a review for anything but after today I feel like I need to. I placed an order online so I could pick up and be on my way. I thought it would be faster and easier than dinning in but apparently not at this Chili’s. After I was notified that my order was ready I waited 5 minutes before going to pick up just in case the staff needed a few more minutes. However when I went to the pick up window there was nobody there. No problem, I don’t mind waiting 2-5 minutes for someone to be available to help but I do mind when I have to wait 12 minutes for someone to even acknowledge me!! Especially when I can see that the staff is just standing around in the kitchen on their phones. It’s ridiculous. I wouldn’t have been written this review if the person who finally gave me my order at least apologized for the long wait times but they didn’t. They acted like I was inconveniencing them for ordering. I work in food service too and know some days are hard but this was...
Read moreAugust 2015, Every table in the place was dirty when we got there at 845pm. The place was only half full. Must have been short bus boys for the night. Wait staff didn't really care if we were there or if tables were dirty. Our waiter brought us to a table and whipped it down with a dirty wet rag that smelled old n dirty. Ordered the grilled chicken. It's clearly pre made and then warmed up on their hot plate or something. The only saving grace was our waiter was friendly and did the best he could. And of course the real reason everyone goes there is the chips n salsa which were hot n fresh made. Union city always has good chips. Some other chili's restaurants in the bay area have oily chips bcuz they dont change the oil. Want to watch sports games, they have plenty of TVs. So if ur looking for the nights game and some bar food, it's the...
