Retro attack is one of the only good things left in the dying Capitola Mall! The store is shared with a old school/collectible toy store. Video games on the left toys on the right. This review is for the video game store on the left side. This store is amazing and great for all ages. They sell new and old school video games and are locally owned by true born and raised Santa Cruz natives that have been doing this for years! The owner has been selling video games in Santa Cruz county forever! They started at the Flea market/online then grew to a store front on water st and now to there current and best location yet inside the Capitola Mall. Sure the mall is dead but at this point they are what I call a destination store, meaning your most likely to be heading to the mall for this store then to just stumble upon it waking by. Unlike most video game stores and GameStop they don’t carry 50 copy’s of “filler” titles like madden 12 or need for speed underground but have actually sought after/rare games like Pokémon, Mario, etc. They offer the best trade in prices for used games in Santa Cruz and if you are looking for a specific game they will find it and get it in stock for you!! Highly recommend checking out this spot for all your video game needs in Santa Cruz county! I've been to this place 3 times in under the span of a month. First I went to get a Nintendo 64 not sure if they had one or not and right on the spot no questions asked they had one with every game I wanted with prices you can't beat. The second time I came the staff was so friendly and noticed me right off the bat knowing who I was and welcoming me with a "it's great to have you back" they even recommend some games I was looking for from the first time. They made a mistake by giving me the wrong power cord and notified me immediately. Knowing I live over half an hour away they compensated the mistake they made and I didn't even ask for it. At first, I just thought I'd browse through the store and see what Retro Attack had in stock. Thanks to the quality customer service provided by Corey and Adam, they convinced me to come back and try trading in some of my old games. I gladly took them up on the offer and I'm really ecstatic that I did. Throughout the entire interaction, Corey and Adam were the kindest, most welcoming duo.
