1st timer! I really had a craving for Chinese food and a lot of places are closed, this was the worst Chinese food I've ever had! We paid 50 bucks for What was supposed to be no oil seafood and vegetables, chicken almond Chow mein, chicken sweet-and-sour, and egg rolls. There was nothing Chinese about this cuisine, it was straight up Lucky or Safeway bought junk food with lard. So bad, all I could taste is the flour on the seafood, the chicken was identical Laden with flour same texture , their almonds must have been sitting in their cupboard for over a year as they were completely stale the chicken was definitely not fresh, I spit it out. The seafood was either, catfish or tilapia in heavy flour, some shrimp & that's it. Veg: all broccoli, carrots, regular mushrooms, onion, some overcooked or old snow peas. NO bamboo, h20 chestnuts, oyster mushrooms, bok choy, bean sprouts - no Asian produce! I was starving so I ate some of the fish, zuccini, a few snow peas, shrimp and tried the gooey w flour n lard egg roll & now have a splitting headache from the sodium from the oily sauce I avoided. I opened up the 2nd egg roll to see what was going on there - 1 tbs of muck.... not fresh veggies, a gooey tbs filled the entire roll. Sorry, but just bcs we had a pandemic doesn't mean you can feed your customers 1 year old food & get away with it. My friend couldn't eat any of his, he felt sick right away (that's why I tasted his chicken/almond/ noodle chow mein) It was all old! They could've saved those almonds by keeping them in the freezer. Sorry Golden Fu Wah - this was...
Read moreGolden Fu has officially become one of my top favorite spots for Chinese food. It’s a Chinese and Japanese style restaurant, and depending on what you’re in the mood for, they’ll prepare it accordingly. Just let them know what you're ordering and they’ll take care of it.
The interior is really nice, clean, inviting, and spacious. They have a full sushi bar and a mix of both Chinese and Japanese style seating, which adds a cool vibe to the place. We went with the Chinese side of the menu and ordered chicken chow mein, pork fried rice, orange chicken, and sweet and sour pork. The food did not disappoint.
The orange chicken and sweet and sour pork were super fresh and had that perfect crispy texture on the outside, with none of that chewy or soggy bite you sometimes get elsewhere. The sauces were flavorful without being overly sweet or heavy.
The chicken chow mein was loaded with tender chicken, crunchy veggies, and perfectly cooked noodles that weren’t greasy at all. The flavor was balanced and savory, not too salty or bland. The pork fried rice was probably one of the best I’ve had in a long time. The rice was fluffy and full of flavor, with just the right amount of pork and egg mixed in. You could taste the wok style cooking in every bite.
The staff was also amazing. I ended up ordering some extra food to go and they were super quick and friendly about it. You can tell they care about good service and quality food.
Overall, it was a great experience. Great food, great service, and a place I’ll definitely be coming back...
Read moreI’m unsure where to start, because there are so many standout and memorable moments it’s hard to know where to begin.
The beginning, then, is perhaps the best place. I met my handsome date and we were immediately given menus and glasses of water. The waitress was eager to take our order but we let her know we needed time to peruse the robust menu before deciding what to order. There were a myriad of options and combinations, and we were told that all of the produce and meat/tofu was organic, which gave the place a charm and spoke to the care the owners’ held in the quality of food they provided.
We ordered the szechuan green beans, basil tofu, mapo tofu, and sides of rice. The dishes came out quickly and were fresh, hot, and flavorful. We languished in each dish, which was perfectly seasoned and generously portioned. Because of the large portion sizes we weren’t able to finish our food, and the very kind women owner boxed everything up for us and presented us with fortune cookies. She also told us that she would give us two sesame black bean balls the next time we returned.
The staff are incredibly kind, patient, thoughtful, and genuine. I will definitely return to Golden Fu Wah for my next tasty...
