Exceeded expectations! Stopped in on a Sunday morning around 11am driving from Aspen to Denver. Fairly busy, but the estimated 30 minute wait was only 15 min. We were seated at a table just on the edge of the open dining area. Shaded from the sun, but able to enjoy the nice day and a breeze while we ate. Ordered the build your own omelette w/ turkey, bacon, ham, chicken & cheese. Is is possible to put too much meat in an omelette? If there was such a thing, Smithy did it, but who's complaining? Man sized portion for sure! Omelette was cooked nicely and was served with choice of toast and hash browns. The hash browns were a little under cooked for my taste, but easy enough to ask for a little more crispy next time. The raspberry jam on the table took this meal over the edge. After a so-so weekend in Aspen with the typical over priced and under whelming ski town food / service this great experience capped our vacation on a high note. Also great job by our sever Ali who was a pleasant mix of prompt, friendly, helpful and just enough casual conversation to make us feel welcome without being intrusive of our meal. We'll be sure to stop in next time we...

Over the years I’ve visited friends here in Carbondale. Without fail I’ve always made sure to stop in at the Village Smithy. The food is and has always been superb. Usually things feel very inviting. Today was different. I walk in and the hostess/waitress says nothing. I start walking to the dining area and ask if it’s alright I got a table. The lady didn’t seem to be having it as she got a menu and escorted me. She tried to sit me on a high table and I said no thanks. I then walk to a table and she acts as though it’s a huge deal. ā€œI’m confused because I’m the one who’s supposed to be sitting you!ā€ 😳 I then sit there and no one greets me at my table, mind you the place is empty. I ask a waitress and she said ā€œwell I was going to serve you but you moved tablesā€ and walks away. I said ā€œI just want a coffeeā€ and she annoyingly gets it for me. I don’t know what was going on this morning but the staff was not their usual selves. I post this because I love dining here and hate to see a good...

I am a long time local and have been coming to the Smithy ever since it opened. My husband and I were celebrating our 30th anniversary today at the Smithy and it was 34 years ago today (Oct 30)that we had our first date there. We had an absolutely terrible table by the kitchen and bar, noisy and a lot of traffic! I asked to be moved but since we had ordered was told we could not. All we had on the table was 2 glasses of juice and there were at least 6 tables I observed if not more, empty tables. I thought customers came first and I’m sure our waiter could have brought our food to another table. The food was not as good as previous years or maybe just seemed not by the unpleasant experience. We will not be celebrating anymore anniversaries there. It had become a ritual since 1989, but this definitely changed that. Had there been no other convenient tables I could understand. Sorry to say this as we have always had a pleasant experience and great food...

For me, totally worth the 2hr drive!! Patio seating is nice. I want to say the place is Dog Friendly but it has a catch. Dogs must remain down in the lawn area & can't be on the patio. Otherwise service, food & cocktails were wonderful. Chili Rellano was good. The batter was perfect (not thin & not thick), still tasted the pepper & cheese. Black & Bleu Burger was perfectly cooked. The meat had good flavor, tasted fresh. CO Beef is just some of the best I've had lately. Arugula Avocado Bacon Balsamic Benedict was so delicious. I'd definitely order it again. The Hashbrowns are some of the BEST I've had in a long time. Crunchy all the way through. No mushy middle. Hope you enjoy as much as I did.

So excited to stop by this popular brunch spot during our week-long camping trip. Friendly greeting by the hostess who put us on a short waiting list via text. There was outdoor picnic seating with canopy and shade which was ideal for COVID time dining. Our server was Ismael and he was very cheerful and knowledgeable about the day’s specials. We enjoyed our drinks (tequila sunrise and loaded bloody) and the entrees (the avocado toast with eggs and the eggs over hash browns and salsa). We also had one single blueberry cornmeal pancake for dessert. Thanks for the yummy meal!

After waiting for over an hour for our food and notifying our server twice and then the host, they admitted they'd lost our ticket. Since they probably rushed at that point, my pancakes were uncooked in the center and the eggs benedict arrived with uncooked spinach (I saw other people's plates and the veggies were sautƩed) and overcooked eggs. They didn't comp us any part of the meal and barely acknowledged the poor service. The server seemed more preoccupied with giving people high fives.
