If I could give Biggie's Restaurant in Carlstadt, NJ, a rating lower than one star, I would do it without hesitation. My recent dining experience at this establishment was nothing short of a culinary catastrophe, and I strongly urge anyone considering dining here to turn around and run in the opposite direction.
Let's start with the ambiance, or rather the lack thereof. Biggie's has managed to create an atmosphere that is both drab and uninspiring. The dim lighting does nothing to conceal the tired decor and worn-out furniture. The place reeks of indifference, as if no effort has been made to maintain any semblance of a welcoming dining space.
Now let's talk about the service, or more accurately, the complete absence of it. The staff at Biggie's seemed utterly disinterested in providing even the most basic level of customer service. Waiters were nowhere to be found when needed, and when they did appear, they were unresponsive and slow. It's as if they were doing customers a favor by acknowledging their presence. Our simple requests for water and condiments were met with eye-rolls and sighs of annoyance.
But let's get to the heart of the matter: the food. I struggle to find the words to describe the abysmal excuse for cuisine that was served at Biggie's. The menu promised a variety of dishes, but what arrived at our table was a sorry display of overcooked, tasteless slop. The pasta was mushy, the vegetables were limp and lifeless, and the meat was dry and flavorless. It was evident that the kitchen staff had no passion for their craft, as if they were simply going through the motions with zero regard for the end product.
Even worse, the prices at Biggie's are completely unjustified for the quality of the food and service. We were charged exorbitant amounts for subpar dishes that wouldn't even pass muster in a fast-food joint. It's clear that the management here cares more about maximizing profits than providing a satisfying dining experience.
In conclusion, Biggie's Restaurant in Carlstadt, NJ, is an utter disgrace to the culinary industry. From the lackluster ambiance and abysmal service to the repugnant food quality and inflated prices, every aspect of this establishment screams negligence and mediocrity. Save yourself the disappointment and find a reputable restaurant elsewhere. Your taste buds and wallet...

On the other hand, maybe you like to top your raw oyster/clams with condiments.
Still others may perhaps like them cooked. To each their own.
It does not matter if you like it with or without condiments. It does not matter if you like it raw or cooked (Rockefeller, Oreganata, Casino, Steamed, Roasted, Fried or Southern Fried), if you want to understand what the fuss is all about then I recommend you visit Biggie’s (430 Rt 17 S Carlstadt NJ).
From a humble beginning in 1946, selling clams on half shell from pails & pushcart on the street corners of Hoboken NJ, they have come a long way. Biggie’s is not your grandfather’s Oldsmobile; it is an American success story rooted in knowledge & experience acquired over four generations. They know what they are doing and are passionate about it.
No place in NJ does oysters/clams better than Biggie’s. It is amongst the few places outside of New England that does the whole belly fried clams (as opposed to strips).
Even their thin crust white clam pizza (tortilla crust), is outstanding just based on the merit of their amazingly fresh clams.
This is the place where you take a friend who wants to try Oysters for the very first time (they are today much more than just Oysters/Clams). This is a place you go to with...
Read moreWe went here for the first time and honestly it was the last time. I don't know what all the hype is here because all 5 of us felt the same way. Four of us ordered cheese steak and it was godly awful , the steak was very chewy , there was barely any steak on it , and the rolls were stale. Steves Burgers in Passaic or Garfield is the place to go for cheese steaks , definitely not Biggies. We ordered 3 Lava Cakes and they were ready in 5 minutes. The reason is they were microwave Lava Cakes you can easily tell. They were hard in some areas and soft in others. There was no lava sauce in the middle and barely any vanilla ice cream on the side. The waitress was very cold , there were no forks and knives at our table and when we asked for them it seemed like we were bothering her. Not once did she come by and ask is everything ok or would anyone want a refill of soda , ect. We had to ask other workers for another soda , ect. Then she had the nerve to take my daughters plate with 2 chicken tenders still on it without asking , are you finished with that? For the first time I didn't want to leave a tip , that's how bad the whole experience was here , but my wife said you have to leave something. Do yourself a favor and steer...
