My family and I stayed here from April 22 to 28th 2024. We were here for a hockey tournament at the American Dream Mall (Dream Nations Cup) along with our team. This hotel was suggested to us by the tournament organizer and we were given a group rate of $211 USD per night for a 2 br suite. We checked in on the night of April 22nd and later that night discovered that one bedroom and bathroom were infested with ANTS. Unfortunately they had gotten into our luggage as well. We called the front desk and they had someone come to our room at 3:30am to spray the ants. We were told it was safe to be around the spray and that they had no other rooms to move us into as they were fully booked. Needless to say, we did not get any sleep that night. The next day, we were informed that a room opened up for us to switch to. There were other people staying in the hotel who told us they had ants in their rooms as well and were very upset. Both of the rooms we had during our stay were right next to the elevator mechanical room so we had to deal with continuous noice throughout the day and night. The first day in our room #208, the door handle completely came off on the king room door so I was locked inside. We ended up fixing the door handle ourselves. 2 of the 3 TV's in the room have the picture settings set at 'blue' (see picture) so that's how we watched the hockey playoffs lol. We were unable to change the settings on the remote provided. Also the shower tap in the king room's bathroom did not turn all the way to hot so we had lukewarm showers in that bathroom the entire stay. We did have 2 bathrooms in our suite and was able to have hot showers in the other bathroom. I spoke with the assistant manager on several occassions and found that she was not sympathetic to our concerns even though we are Silver Elite members. When I spoke with her about the ant issue, she said that 'this is a very common problem in this area and we are dealing with it on several floors of the hotel'. She said as far as she's concerned she dealt with the ant problem and there's nothing more they can do for us. I spoke with her and Brian several times about our room not being cleaned when we were told twice that it was on the list to be cleaned that day. Then the next day we were promised it would be cleaned but when we got back at 5pm it wasn't cleaned. I had to call the front desk to find out what was going on and then they got the supervisor to come up and talk to me. From speaking with other families staying in the hotel, most had similar experiences with the housekeeping issues. I do not reccomend this hotel and would never stay here again. The assistant manager is very dismississive and rude. The location is okay for the Dream Mall, but there are no restaurants around and nothing to walk to. There are much better hotels in the area such as the Hiltons. Lastly, when asked about compensation for the issues we faced, we were told that since we were already getting a group rate, they could not budge on the price, but they might be able to give us Bonvoy points. We submitted a request for 20000 points which is basically around $185 (less than the cost of one night's stay) and the assistant manager told us it was 'not gonna happen'. Update: we provided feedback on this hotel to the tournament organizers and they were highly concerned. They mentioned they will be following up with the hotel on this and may remove them from their list of approved hotels for future events. We also emailed the hotel manager Rob Fagan and I'll update here if we...
Read moreCheck in was fast but confusing. We were in town for a family member’s funeral so when we were a few hours away I called the hotel to inquire about a two bedroom suite so that we could host a friend coming in from out of town as well. Over the phone I was told it would be an additional $600 per night. When we arrived I asked the same question in person and was told it would be an addition $2500 for the week. We declined because we could have gotten an addition studio suite for less.||Although the staff for the most part was helpful and courteous that is far as it went with the hotel. I say for the most part because one of the guys would not even speak when spoken to. During check in we did not receive the bag with the two bottles of water that has been customary when checking in at Marriott hotels. In fact I did not see water out the entire week here.|| During past stays at this location I would have given the location five stars but now I would not give them more than two stars.||Their choices for breakfast left a lot to be desired. We either went to the Candlewick Diner a mile away or bought danish from a local supermarket for breakfast. The lobby and dining area were clean but that is as far as it goes. The hallway the entire week was in need of a good vacuum cleaning. In the room the dishwasher was broken and needed to be repaired which was taken care of quickly. The ceiling above the bed was black from dust around the HVAC vent. The bathroom was disgusting.||Outside was not any better, they have a water leak that has not been repaired. I brought it to the attention of the front desk and they were unaware of it or they did not care. I tend to think it is the later because of the trash and cigarette butts thrown everywhere. At first I did not think much of the trash because I gave them the benefit of the doubt even with glass beer bottles being part of the trash. Day two the same trash was there, day three the same trash was still there and on day seven the same including the beer bottles. I had to go to the front desk and tell them about a broken bottle on the sidewalk. The second time I picked up a piece big enough to have sent someone to the emergency room if they had stepped on it. Even after telling them twice exactly where to find it I still had to walk the employee over and point it out. I took several pictures if anyone from corporate is interested. I really don’t feel it is my job to point out all of the issues to management. Maybe management should get out walk around and even randomly check rooms.||It is very apparent that cleanliness is not a priority of the staff or management.||Have stayed at many Marriott hotels and this one many times over the years and our stays have always been nice including this location. That is why we chose to return. I expected much better. During my next trip to the area I will be staying somewhere else, possibly the Holiday Inn less than a mile away.||I have stayed at the Residence Inn located in Santee, SC twice in the past 60 days and this location could take some tips from them.||On my way back to Florida we are staying at the Residence Inn located in Myrtle Beach and on Jekyll Island in GA. I hope those stays are...
Read moreOn 3/27/22, We reserved a 1 bedroom suite with a pull out couch. We stayed two nights. It was supposed to sleep two people on the pull out couch/bed in living room and two people in the king bed. We had two children on the pull out bed in the living room. When we made the bed the first night at approx 8pm, the coil/springs were coming through the mattress of the pull out bed and it was extremely uncomfortable. The matress was thinner than the pillows. I went to the front desk and explained the situation. I asked if we could get the mattress replaced or swich rooms. The front desk woman told me that the hotel was completely booked for the night and she could do nothing. She said "the roll out beds arent made to be as comfortable as the big bed in the room, you understand." i told her that i have stayed in many residence inn locations and we never had a problem with the mattress of the pull out beds. I asked for a rollaway bed, she informed me they do not carry them.I asked if tomorrow we could upgrade to a different room because we were very uncomfortable. She checked the computer and said "we do have two bedroom suites tomorrow but they are really really expensive." I told her that was fine, i dont care about the price i just wanted my family to be comfortable. She went on to say "its about double the price of the room you are staying in, this isnt one of the best hotels around, its a low star hotel...." At that time i was very upset, i said to her "excuse my french but i dont care how much the freaking room is, Im not asking for a free upgrade, i just want to upgrade. I dont understand the problem, you have rooms available and im willing to pay for it" She said she couldnt do anything until the manager comes in at 7am the next morning. I told her that we would be out by then and i asked her if she could have the manager call me. She said yes, your number is on file. She then told me "I am going to have to ask you not to use that language with me." I was confused. I asked her what i said. she said i used profanity with her and would need to make sure it didnt happen again. I appologized initally and explained that i dont understand if i am willing to purchase the upgrade why it is such an issue. She said "well again, i need you to not use that type of language with me." i told her that i already appologized for whatever i said. She then said "ok, im just telling you." i said ok and i already appologized. She said "ill have the manager call you in the morning. but just watch how you talk to me." I honestly just started at her for a second. I asked her to stop. I walked away. my kid was with me and said "you didnt swear,i dont understand what just happened." About a half hour after, there was a maintenance worker that knocked on the door, felt the sofa bed mattress, said he will make a report .... the manager never called us..... so paid 400 bucks for two nights for my kid to sleep on the floor. AND THE POOL WAS...
