Flaming Grill & Supreme Buffet — Restaurant in East Rutherford

EDITED TO ADD: It's now 5am and my 4yo has woken up & is throwing up with diarrhea right along with his brother. Thanks a lot Flaming Grill for ruining my family vacation! 😡 Even though I read the reviews, I thought "it shouldnt be that bad. Maybe those people were just picky." Wrong!! DO NOT EAT HERE!!!!! DO NOT EAT HERE!!!! SAVE YOUR SELF, GO ELSEWHERE!!!!!

-------FOOD POISONING FROM THIS PLACE!! It's 3am on 11/20/23 and my 13yo son is currently vomiting into the trash can for the 5th time tonight after eating the sushi at this establishment. We are traveling from Texas, and I wanted to show my family how much better the Asian buffets are in the northeast compared to Texas. How wrong it was to choose Flaming Grill for our Sunday dinner.

This place is a hazard!! We arrived with 8 people and they acted bothered that they had to find a table to accommodate us. It was a Sunday night I was expecting busy, but fresh food. I was expecting at least a few authentic & delicious items.

Everything was way OVER seasoned, weird textures, old, or in gross looking oil. And this is coming from a black woman with a black husband who LOVES seasoning and spice. I am usually NOT hard to please and very optimistic, but this place needs to be shut down.

I struggled terribly to find something I liked. None of my usual favorites were executed well. The sushi was a gross almost gelatin texture. My 15yo son, who usually loves sushi, got himself an entire plate full took 1 bite and said "Nope". I teach my 6 kids not to waste food. Guess we should have listened to him.

The potstickers were mushy and the filing wasn't even recognizable. The teriyaki chicken was orange (never saw that before) and totally burned. It tasted like charcoal. The lo mein was mushy and over cooked. I settled on crawfish and the dry sauce-less mussels.

This place was just sad and sorry food. To top it off when we were leaving, the waitress DEMANDED that we add a tip to the receipt!! She didn't see the 30% cash tip we had ALREADY put on the table. Not because she deserved it, but simply because we believe in tipping well.

I have lived in 11 cities across 3 states, traveled across the US twice, I've even traveled to Mexico twice. I have NEVER experienced a place such as this. And I've NEVER been accosted about a tip before. PLEASE, PLEASE do NOT eat here!!!!!!! Save...

What a horrible experience. First let me start by saying their most expensive day is Sunday $16.99 all day which we get. My boyfriend and I tried to go on MLK Day and they raised the prices even higher with the same kind of food at $21.99 no crab legs as always etc. Now today (Sunday) we met up with another couple friends of ours. The food selection was even less than on a Friday or Saturday and we were paying more. The place was a mess, dishes were actually dirty and had rice stuck to them in the clean pile you pick from…some had loads of water on them. I only go up once and the other 3 people I was with go up twice and I just had a few pieces of honeydew that are cut into huge pieces for dessert. This place gives out no knives which could cause a choking hazard. The waitress is one of the rudest people I ever came across. She kept coming to the table trying to take everyone’s plate before they were finished. She literally reached over me & my best friend and pulled her boyfriend’s plate from him as he was still eating. I was livid for him. The floors were sticky and all the serving spoons were dirty and had fallen into the serving trays. We were there just a little over an hour and paid our bills at the table because the rude waitress more likely wanted to make sure she was properly tipped. She had come to the table looked at us and said “No mas?” And I said what? She said “No more?” We didn’t understand why she asked us in Spanish a question when none of us were Hispanic/Latino. We were sitting there finishing up and getting ready to leave when this horribly rude waitress literally had the audacity to say to us “you here too long, you leave now”. Our jaws dropped. An hour and 10 mins? Too long? Sure say this now that you have both our boyfriends signed credit card merchant copies with your tips from both couples. Please everyone just beware. They are rude and nasty people, the place is filthy, the food is either not cooked enough or overcooked or bathed in sauces. It is like food poisoning waiting to happen. And let’s not even talk about the filthy bathrooms. This is a cheaper buffet because you get what you pay for!!! The health inspector needs to pay another visit. There are so many health violations. Oh and let’s also not forget child labor laws…they have a 8yr old little boy calling out numbers and seating...

My family and I usually enjoy this buffet, despite it being nothing more than below average. For years we have been coming to this specific buffet for quick family celebrations. Today’s experience was terrible. My family arrives at the buffet and tells the woman at the front desk that we have five people, she says there’s an open table to our left and my mother asks if there’s any tables on the right. A simple question that can be answered politely. If the answer was no, we would’ve just went to the open table to the left. The woman says, “Sure go ahead, any table” with attitude. So we proceed to go to any table on the right side of the buffet. Once we sit down, we start getting our food and a few minutes later another family is being seated at our table. We pointed out that the front desk woman said we can sit anywhere. She lies and denies it. We ask to speak to the manager, turns out she is the manager. I tell her that we wouldn’t sit anywhere if she didn’t tell us to and she proceeds to say “It’s my first day working here”. I don’t know if she said this because she knew she messed up but all I can say is that for a woman with a “manager” title, she was at her lowest low and hit rock bottom. At the end, she found us another table and tried to switch her attitude, but nevertheless, her whole demeanor this evening was highly unprofessional.
