HotBox Pizza — Restaurant in Carmel

Horrible Horrible experience! Went in for my usual order as I am a frequent customer here and service was a complete JOKE! The usual staff wasn't on shift today unfortunately so Elija took my order; with a very bland attitude i might add. (No biggie) I overlooked this because we all wish we were at home when at work sometimes right? I forgot to ask for my pizza to be thin(skinny) so upon requesting to have it adjusted prior to my pizza being anywhere near complete and apologizing for my mistake in ordering; an employee on the pizza line gets angry and violently slammed his hand on the dough station and yells. I overlooked this as well. Then the "manager" (Laura Lye) the biggest joke of the experience proceeded to play in her hair with both hands as if she was putting a ponytail in then walks over and digs her bare hands into the cheese and dumps it on my pizza. I stop her and explain how unsanitary that is and her reply is "oh its fine, I wash my hands more than anyone in here" I go on to explain that I myself am servsafe certified and I must have missed that portion on the test that stated washing your hands wasn't required PRIOR to preparing food. Especially after you've touched your face, hair, and or cell phone. Laura Lye threatened to kick me out and call her boss on me if I didn't stop talking to her and expressing my dissatisfaction in her food handling practices for this establishment. I then ask for a refund for the $40+ dollars I paid for my 2 orders and went to another pizza joint that has a better understanding of safe food handling and customer service. By far the WORST experience I've ever had at this pizza joint. If negative stars was a thing -5 stars would be my rating for today's experience. Laura Lye needs to be retrained in food safety compliance, customer service and management or removed for her position as manager of this establishment and only allowed...

The manager (I believe his name is Ethan) has absolutely no sense of customer service. I was slightly irritated that I was transferred (with no notice and had to repeat myself instead of the previous associate briefing the manager on the situation) and couldn’t get a simple question answered as to whether this location delivered to my address. So, rather than apologize and/or take ownership for the poor communication and inconvenience, the manager says “calm down, sir” in a very snide tone. I was finally able to place an order after being transferred to the GM and once it arrived (to their credit, in fairly timely manner), the pizza was very underwhelming. I spent $30+ for a large pizza (seems more like a medium compared to competitors), breadsticks and 2 drinks (not 2 liters, just 2 small drinks) on a supposed special, and I feel that I got ripped off. The pizza was very mediocre and the breadsticks are very bland (nothing special at all). I’m all for paying for quality, but I definitely did not feel I got value for my dollar. By far one of the worst experiences I've had with a pizza delivery. We are visiting from Michigan and staying at a nearby hotel, when we placed our order on the website we received confirmation and an estimated delivery time about an hour from when we ordered, no problem there. However, the pizza didn't actually arrive until 2 hours later. When we called to check on the status we were offered a meal coupon (which does us no good since we are from out of state) and were told that the delivery driver had left 15 min prior and it would be here soon. When it finally arrived it was stone cold, we attempted to warm the pizza up in the microwave to eat it but it tasted like cardboard, and none of the dipping sauces that we would have paid extra for were included. We called back to speak with the manager who eventually voided the order but was not at all apologetic for the service. We ended up going out to pick up food from somewhere else at 11pm at night because it had taken so long for delivery and the quality of the pizza was sub par. Needless to say if we are ever back in Indianapolis this place will be on our "never again" list of...
