We were aware of the restaurant since they were in the old location, just had never made it over, so this was our first visit in their new location. We were seated for our reservation after a little wait. The interior is dimly lit with romantic vibe to it. Our server stopped by in a bit with water and explained the menu to us. We ordered our drinks of Italian mule and Italian old fashioned. She answered all the questions we had on our drinks. We also ordered the Bruschettinie di carne. Our drinks and appetizer came out promptly. The drinks were great! The appetizer wasn’t that great…the balsamic reduction was very good but the meat was tad under-salted and seemed out of place somehow. Our server asked for feedback and I let her know…she just nodded our head and left. For dinner I ordered Pollo Limone. My son had the Carbonara Funghi and my husband Tagliate Di Manzo(Steak with veggies). Our server offered to get him a side of potatoes but didn’t mention that it was an additional charge! They do not have kids menu but can do select items for kids….which basically is half portion of those items. So my daughter had the Fettuccine with butter parmesan. Our food was excellent - my chicken was tender grilled and sauce was not heavy, but rather a light, refreshing cream sauce. The side of mashed potatoes was very good. My son loved his carbonara and my husband mentioned his steak was okay. Again when our server stopped by to ask us about the food and I was trying to tell her what I loved about the chicken, she heard a part of it and then started walking away. Anyway, after our dinner was done, she was gone for quite a bit, while we waited for our check, etc. Finally she came by and we ordered a tiramisu to go and the check. We were aware that this is a pricey restaurant but the check still made me think if the food was really that good :). To summarize, good food, odd service(but that could be just that server) and very...
Read moreThis is definitely a hidden gem! I've been on the search for an excellent, authentic Italian restaurant around Indy and this hit the spot. This restaurant is owned and operated by a family born and raised in Rome. The only regret is that it's not closer but it's probably for the best so I don't spend my entire food budget on amazing pasta haha. We didn't have reservations and the book looked full from the glance I took but the hostess found us a table and was extremely helpful in making sure we got the full experience. We started with the Calamari E Polenta that was excellent. Not your typical fried calamari with tomato sauce, an authentic fire roasted tomato sauce and perfectly cooked squid. The wine recommendation was excellent and pared well with both of our food. I got the Pasta Genovese di Mare with parpadelle pasta. Excellent sweetness of the seafood balanced well with the acidity from the tomato sauce. With the pastas you get to pick your pasta to go with what sauce you'd like. My fiancée got the Pollento al Vinsanto. She was allergic to the vegetable side chosen by Chef so she substituted extra rosemary mashed potatoes. I'm honestly not sure why I've never thought of adding rosemary to mashed potatoes but I'm doing it from now on. It was incredible. The Cornish hen was cooked well and had great flavors with the herb, lemon, and pancetta. I personally wasn't planning on having dessert but when out server told us about the Chef's Great Grandmother's Tiramisu recipe I knew I had to try it. It was an excellent finish and the chocolate mousse that we also tried was amazing. They use a dark Belgian chocolate and we kept going back for another spoon even after we were full. I highly recommend Ristorante Roma and will...
Read moreMy family went out to dinner here and was just wowed by the great food but even more so by the customer service. Our waitress was just wonderful. Our 11 year son eats adult portions but the restaurant offers (in lieu of a children's menu) half portions of a bunch of dishes. My son wanted clams and spaghetti, like his grandmother makes, and the waitress had great foresight to bring up another clam and pasta dish as an option incase of flavor expectations. When he asked me which one tasted like his grandmothers, the waitress asked me about it and I said it was a butter and wine sauce with garlic and she said she would have the kitchen cook it up with some garlic to be more like hers. She even said if he didn’t like it she would bring him another dish of whatever pasta he wanted. When she brought it out she even hovered a bit making sure he was happy with those first few bites.
I will even say that I asked for a second Italian old fashion and it was like magic, I can’t imagine it is like this every time but I swear it was to me in under a minute.
The homemade pasta is amazing. The dishes we all ordered have lovely presentation as well as flavor.
Even when it came to dessert the waitress offered opinions and we all left very happy.
When we come back to Carmel, we will for sure return as well as recommend this restaurant to friends.
Thank you Cheyenne (sp?). Thank you for a...
