Well let’s get this straight…this restaurant is a classic and really doesn’t need another five-star review, but here we go…
Every time I dine at Sunrise Café, there’s a personable greeting, usually from Jack—who always gives me the table I want and reassures me that I can still order breakfast even though it is 10:59! (Note: the lunch menu starts at 11:00 and includes some breakfast items.)
Today, my server was Becca, she was literally perfect. She made great suggestions. She was very attentive, but not overly attentive. She was always smiling and very personable.
Becca’s recommendation was something I had overlooked on the menu and it was delicious!
I ordered the bagel with over easy eggs, plus hashbrowns, crispy bacon, and you guessed it a side of French toast!
If you’re a solo traveler, writer, or working remote…if you’re a big party or a family with kids…it doesn’t really matter this staple in Carmel, Indiana, is a must try for breakfast or brunch.
This eatery’s location—in the middle of the Caramel business district—makes it perfect for business meetings.
There’s plenty of space and the ambiance is uniquely Indiana. You will see pictures of the Pacers, the Colts and even images honoring public servants.
In addition to the open seating areas, some dim discrete corners are also available for those events requiring more privacy.
The food is always delicious. And the service is exceptional…Owners Lisa and Jim are there pretty much every day to make sure your expectations are exceeded!
Thank you so much everyone at sunrise Café for the years of service you’ve given to the city of Carmel! And thanks for my great breakfast! Becca’s service motivated this review!
Thanks again everyone at...
Read moreI am astounded this restaurant is open. I have never been so insulted by a restaurant staff/owner. There is no reason for an owner or manager to treat people the way we were treated. I walked in the door to meet a new tenant that works in the building. She suggested that we meet at Sunrise at lunch to sign paper work. This restaurant is attached to a multi-story office building and assume has a trickle stream of customers by default. I no sooner sat down, the wait staff asked if I wanted something to drink. I said not right now because I wanted to get paper work signed before we decided what it was we wanted for lunch. A minute later the owner/manager approached us and said this is not a place to come and hang out and not order anything and said you will have to leave. How did this guy assume we were not going to order and just take up seat and leave after we signed documents. I literally sat down for less than 2 min. before being asked to leave. It was implied that I had to order something right away or I had to leave. It was the way he approached and his demeanor that was disturbing. You could absolutely see the satisfaction in his face, doing what he did. We stood up and explained how rude he was and how anyone can have a business with that kind of attitude. He said we have been here for 30 years. I just wonder if he was a better person. Would the 70 percent of the no-occupied tables be full at 12:00 noon peak time for lunch rush hour? Needless to say, I won't be back. And by the looks of it, he needs the business unless he is happy to...
Read moreIt is UTTERLY PERPLEXING how this establishment continues to remain operational, given the appalling manner in which they treat their customers.
The hostess, in particular, was EXTREMELY impolite - a recurring theme among the staff, including their management, as corroborated by numerous reviews.
Despite a twenty-minute wait to even put our names in. she returned to immediately say "Do you need seated?"
When we responded with "yes, party of 2 please", she proceeded with an attitude to say, "K, What do you want?" Confused, we took a few moments to figure out what she meanter at which point she became irritated and raised her voice, exclaiming, "Do you need like a table orrrr???" And throwing up her hands.
When we attempted to clarify our seating preference, she continued to mutter, "You should really..... thats why i was......"
Realizing that her commentary was insufferable. While we initially contemplated overlooking her attitude, but her persistence in berating us was intolerable. I advise you to spare yourself from the deplorable service offered...
