Don't believe the hype... Because of the high rating, I figured dining at this establishment was a necessity during my vacation. Unfortunately, after dining here, the reviews felt misleading. I enjoyed INCREDIBLE food during my time in Puerto Rico... This restaurant was the only sour spot.

To begin, the service was poor. The waitress did not greet us upon sitting down. There was barely any communication at all really - just intense stares and impatience. At one point, we even witnessed her motioning to a group of diners to come up to the bar to get their own drinks... The lack of effort and intention during the service was shocking. Additionally, the waitress tossed our food onto the table instead of respectfully placing it in front of us. The order ended up being wrong. Once this was communicated, she rolled her eyes, snatched the boxes and took them to the back. Not only was this unsanitary, the order was STILL wrong after waiting 20 minutes for them to mend the mistake. I believe customer service training may be helpful in the near future.

Lastly, the food was average. We ordered steak nachos and believed that with various toppings, a better concoction could be created at home. The nachos primarily consisted of shredded cheese, tough steak, stale chips, and sour cream served in a to-go box.

I envision this establishment being convenient to enjoy after spending time on the beach... However, I do not see how the lackluster service and mediocre food has earned Lifeguard at the Reef such...

I'm sorry I didn't take a picture of my meal as soon as it arrived, I had worked all day on the beach and was very hungry and immediately began to eat it! I was surprised by how much I paid for the portion but the end of my experience at Lifeguards proved to me that I made a great decision to dine here. First of all the customer service from the young man Julian was superb. He should open a school on how to treat customers because he was quick and his recommendations were absolutely on point. The meal was very delicious and I'm so glad I listened to Julian's suggestions because the Yuquitas drizzled with Mojo Isleño sauce is the only way to enjoy yucca fries. The last mention should be for the excellent music selection, Tina Turner, Sting, UB40 and Depeche Mode... seriously made my visit to this beach very rewarding. You don't simply eat at "Lifeguards"...you experience "Lifeguards". Also... they're being very COVID safe......

I’m am just beyond confused as to how this place has 4.9 rating. Probably just the proximity to the beach, that’s all it has going for it. The service was worse than terrible. The waitress was rude and did less than the bare minimum. The food was awful. We’ve been in PR 4 days and every other restaurant has been stellar, this place you might as well throw it in the trash. My husband got the tripleta wrap and I got the fried snapper. Looks of the food are so deceiving…Both were flavorless and overcooked. Super greasy. And the rice was over salted. Complete disappointment. If you want a piña colada that is out of a machine, watered down, this is the place to come to! Two thumbs way down! Worst money I’ve spent on food maybe ever.
