Restauraunt had good reviews as a posh and classy place. Upon arrival, it appeared to focus primarily upon wine. After being seated, the server came over with minimal interaction, but to inform of the QR code menu. She then wanted us to choose a wine from the wall, as she would guide us, yet we had just come from having drinks and simply wanted to try the food. The sever let off that she was upset that we were getting no wine, and it came off as rude. She left and came back some time later to take our order. When ordering, we did not have any appetizers, and again, the server appeared to be disturbed. We requested water, as we had been drinking prior to dinner, and that was the last we saw until 25 min later when saying the food should be here soon. We were grateful for that gesture but did not offer any more water but the 4 oz glass provided or want to interact.
When the food arrived, it was not the greatest, and we did not end up eating it all. We had similar food at the "Verdanza" and was far better. When the server came back, we quickly asked for the check and wanted to leave the experience of mediocre service and bland food as quiet as possible. We were in the restaurant, maybe 40 min, and this was waiting 25 min for food and for the check. When the server returned, she had the credit card device and asked what we would like to input for the tip. Found this rude as we were not happy with her service or the food and were going to leave a small cash tip on the table. Yet the server got upset and said it was MANDATORY to leave a tip of at least 18%. We were shocked and asked..."A mandatory tip?" to which she strongly replied yes, here at "Entrevinos" we require a minimum tip of 18%, pointing to the pre-calculated suggested amount on the receipt. We expressed first that her asking what her tip would be and then stating that it was "mandatory" was extremely rude and asked to speak with the manager/owner.
The manager/owner came over, and he asked about the issue, and we explained how we were not pleased with our service --explaining the above story. He stated it was not mandatory, but his servers make very little and rely upon tips. We empathized yet expressed she was rude and provided little to no service. Further how we were leaving a small cash tip, but when she said the minimum was 18% of the bill, I took back my cash, and we decided to give her nothing at all. The manager/owner was professional and understood, stating how the server would be back to settle. She ended up just standing across the dining room staring at us, so we walked to the hostess desk to pay and leave. The server ended up coming up to us after we started speaking to the hostess. The server was even more rude this time in her tone and had a clear attitude, asking, "Do you want to settle your bill now?" Ripping apart the receipt and leaving it rolled up on the counter before walking away with no words. I'm not sure if we needed to sign or do anything, so we asked the hostess if we were good to leave, further with how that display was how we felt during our dining experience. The hostess looked on in surprise but was very polite and professional. The hostess settled us up and apologized for the experience.
Again we were there for the food alone, so in my opinion, be aware of what you are going into as this appears to be a wine restaurant which will expect you to purchase wine, appetizers, along with a mandatory tip at the servers discretion. Not what I expect from a restaurant that appears to be classy and posh, but perhaps they are expecting intoxicated patrons to not realize the issues. All and all, I would rather spend my money elsewhere unless a...
Read moreTerrible service, made us feel unwelcome, great food (of what we received except truffle fries), so-so wine. We walked in with a toddler. There were only 2 other tables occupied and they both had toddlers in high chairs. Hostess told us they only have high top tables so we immediately felt not welcomed. Maybe 3 toddlers at one time is too many for this place. I pointed out that there were at least 10 low top tables that were empty. The entire center of the restaurant was empty. She said all the tables are reserved. She said they don't have high chairs that will work with the high top tables. Then the food for my child never arrived. It was a side. NOTHING was done to make up for this. We were all very visibly upset. Server said we weren't charged for the side so there's nothing for her to remove from the check. I said the side was supposed to be included with the meal so the price should be reduced bc we didn't receive the food. At least that's what she said before we ordered when I asked her if the entre came with anything. She said the entrées come with a side. She was only worried about her tip tho. When my husband reached for his card back she pulled it away and refused to give it back until he told her an amount to enter for her tip. It was very unprofessional and frankly pretty shocking. Truffle fries were the worst I've ever had. Very disappointing string fries. Sea bass and salmon were delicious. They charged $7 for a bottle of water btw. I feel this should be disclosed when you're asked if you want "sparkling water or non-sparkling" and water is brought to the table. I had 1 glass of wine from open bottles in the back that they use for glass pours since I didn't buy a bottle, and it was so-so. Disappointed. It tasted like the bottle had been open for a while or it was going bad... on the verge of turning into...
Read moreDon't believe the 5 star reviews this is a tourist trap. We wanted this to be a nice end to an amazing trip.
It had nice lighting, and nice ambiance when we walked in. We dressed the part, and had a reservation. But the good atmosphere was ruined by rude service that was both slow and rushed at the same time.
We waited 15 minutes for our waiter to greet us, and only after we asked the host to find our waiter. Mauricio, our waiter, gave us the worst welcome, and Denny's style diner service.
This is a wine place, wine in the name, wine lines the walls. I like wine and know what I like. But there was no wine bottle list, no wine by the glass list, and no explanation.
This is how the wine order went. Mauricio says, what kind of wine do you want? Red or white? White. Okay Chardonnay, Sauvignon blanc, or Pinot Grigio? Pinot.
Mauricio wanted to do the hello, the menu questions, the water upsell, the drink orders, AND the food order all in one go. Just like a Denny’s would. Then without explanation or suggestions and no wine pairing with the food — He’s off like a rocket to get us a very lemony tart Pinot Grigio. He just dropped it, asked for food orders again, and disappeared before we had a sniff or a sip.
I flagged down the host again and I asked what kind of wine, brand, country? This was much more like a Sauvignon Blanc. Maybe there was a a mix up?
Mauricio returned looking visibly annoyed and waved a bottle in my face. Something Italian with a blue and red label. My disappointment resulted in a new mystery glass of wine 5 minutes later. It was better, but could have been from a box.
Next comes the food, just not good at all - expensive, and not local. We arrived just before 8, met Mauricio at 815, and were back out on the street by 9pm. Overpriced,...
