Great portion for my meal and it was very good. We all enjoyed our food.
The only problem was the diva waiter with the mask. đ· The attitude on that guy/person is a little much.
Not only was he annoyed that we were splitting the check but was impatient that we were asking questions and didnât know what we wanted. Well, a couple of us werenât sure what to get.
Then, he messed up the order on one, and then told my niece that it was her fault, and she did not order what she said. He said, this is what you ordered and got upset, then changed her rice for her.
Just condescending while still trying to give some kind of customer service.
Oh, I had asked him about two different entrĂ©es. I asked which one is more filling? He said, âI donât know. How can I possibly know that? â
I wanted to say: idiot, which one has more food in it? But, I couldnât. I tried to explain to him that some dishes have more than others. It wasnât the point of what would fill me up, but rather, which one has a bigger portion, but he could not understand what I was asking.
Luckily, for me, I picked the right one.
I never get nasty with waiters or waitresses because Iâve seen too many videos and heard many stories of what they do when they donât like a customer.
Even though he did not deserve a good tip, I still gave 20% as Iâm just a sucker like that sometimes. I end up feeling bad and making excuses for them, unless theyâre really horrible and nasty. Maybe he was just having a bad night, but it seems that Personality. I donât know.
Other than that, I liked the place. The other staff looked pleasant and welcoming. I was on vacation after many years, so I probably will never go back there, but if I was in the area, Iâd recommend it, just stay away from the...
Read moreFood was fantastic! Service was great. I had mafongo de bistec. Steak was awesome as was the sauce. My friend had the pasta Alfredo. I was super excited because I had come to this place seven years ago and it was still here and open. Great, authentic, Puerto Rican cuisine. Last time we had lunch. This time it was dinner.
However I am taking off one star for the predatory practice due to the fact that they included a 14% gratuity already included in the bill when they delivered it. There were two of us dining and we each had one drink. There was no notification of the gratuity being included, nor did the waiter mention this. I happened to check the bill when I paid and it, and added a nominal tip in cash which all together was still greater then 20% which is my usual tip amount when food and service is outstanding. I could feel the wait staff scowling at me when I went to leave.
So what did I do? I went over there and confronted the waiter for not telling us he was including a tip in the bill. His only defense was that it was standard practice.
Caveat Emptor with this one folks! Made me wonder how many tourists they trick into leaving a twenty percent tip on top of the 14% already included in their bill. This left a bad taste in my mouth after a fantastic meal and I have been checking every bill since. It would make more sense if they just raise the price of their food if they feel the wait staff deserved better tips instead of just wacking you in the end with a...
Read moreI was in Puerto Rico with my significant other and we wanted to experience Puerto Rican food, so we chose this spot!
We dined inside at a table. The place wasnât that big. I enjoyed their water, which was complimentary, and I ordered a Coco Rico. The Coco Rico came in a can and it was very refreshing! I loved the unique taste.
For food, we shared the Mi Casita Salad, Beefsteak Mofongo, and Chicken Mofongo. The Mi Casita Salad had Romaine lettuce, tomatoes, red onions, diced sweet plantains and mozarella cheese. We chose âcriollaâ sauce for the Beefsteak Mofongo and garlic sauce for the Chicken Mofongo. I felt I had to try the Mofongo and I was hopeful for the best!
Our waiter brought out the salad with oil and vinegar. The plantains really stood out to me, but all of the ingredients on it teamed up to create an amazing salad! The oil and vinegar even tasted right on it! The Beefsteak Mofongo was good at first, but the taste did wear out a bit faster than I would have liked it to. The Chicken Mofongo was practically the same situation. I enjoyed it at first, but it became tiring towards the end. Regardless of that, Mofongo was still an interesting and enjoyable thing to try!
The service was friendly. Our waiter got us everything we needed in a timely manner.
Overall, this was a good spot to experience Puerto Rican food for my first time! I recommend this place to anyone trying to do the same. Iâm glad I stopped and opened my taste buds to something new.
