You can say a tree lead me to discover Lucky Llama Coffee in Carpinteria, CA. The tree in particular is the largest Torrey Pine tree in the world. That beauty is roughly 125 feet tall and girthy at 20.5 inch circumference. As I was soaking in the shower but of the majestic marvel, I noticed Lucky Llama Coffee. The building is set a bit back from the tree. And luvin the stinky cute name and signage.

The next morning, I dropped on in to Lucky Llama. The interior is tiny. The seating is mainly the outside patio. The line was out the door but it moved quickly. I ordered a Mayan mocha made with oat milk. Delicious. Ohhh it was smooth and creamy. Chocolatey but not candy bar chocolate tasting, more like quality cocoa. I sat outside and leisurely enjoyed my mocha. Again admiring the Torrey pine tree from afar. The patio had chill, relaxed vibes. It's dog friendly as well.

The menu also includes acai bowls, bagels, muffins, avocado toast, bagel sandwiches, croissants, cinnamon roll, and cookies. They baked goods were all gorgeous looking and sitting pretty behind the glass counter.

One of the only walkable coffee shops if you're coming from the beach, campground, or Linden shopping.

And thankfully they have plenty of plant-based milks for coffee. I ordered hot and iced oatmilk lattes with hazelnut and vanilla flavorings the days I was there. They were ok--not bad but not delicious either. It got the job done. I also wished they had more flavors or unique offerings... Lavender lattes, seasonal flavors, etc. (Which is why I gave it 4 instead of 5 stars.)

While they have lots of plant-based bowl options, they didn't have vegan/plant-based pastries from the look of it.

Their hours are 7-2:30pm daily upon writing this. Their prices were comparable to Starbucks. The service is speedy and friendly. The designs on the coffee are fancy, but because of that, they place your coffee on the pickup bar and you have to put the lid on. And I'm not sure why, but the lids fit awkwardly on the cups. I kept double checking to make sure that it was on...

Three times they messed up my order I ordered a jalapeno bagel they gave me a plain I had to catch the bus so couldn't go back to return and pregnant so I ate it I called the number online no answer like 4 times then when I got a avocado bagel I asked for everything bagel I got plain again but didn't realize it till I was at the bus stop again called no answer then next time I went in I told them they told me to email the owner I didn't 5 times no response then I stopped ordering food and just a coffee I ordered light roast she gave me dark I realized that right away so I went in to fix it she gives attitude instead of apologizing and fixing it so I gave her my number for the owner and he contacts me doesn't apologize gives me some money to make up for it and tell me to not come back there or the sunburst burger down the street cause he owns it DON'T EAT ANY BAGELS OR PASTRIES THERE CARE THERE IS NATS IN THE CASE...

Laid back, but the best espresso between Santa Monica and San Francisco! Rich as Croesus, bitter as regret and enough crema for redemption! And a lovely outdoor patio to enjoy it on! And they do all of the coffee and chai foo-foos too, if that's your fancy. Don't forget to wash it down with some pastry. It's excellent, not sticky-sweet, but just a wee bit sweeter than pan dulce from a decent panadaria. Which you should also try. In Oxnard while you also stop at one of the fruit stands for strawberries, as long as you're in the neighborhood. So get off the freeway at Santa Claus / Pedero, drive a few blocks through town and live large! (If you're heading north you should get off at Cal 150 and take the street from there. That's where you should hop back on the freeway if you're southbound to miss the construction traffic.)
