My first time at Capt Loui with some old and new friends for a late lunch. Short answer, we had an amazing time. I'm a bit embarrassed to admit that we were there for a looong time (sorry to the staff) and had an amazing time. Where did the time go?? Staff was very understanding and they left us alone to enjoy our time together. Worth appreciating for sure.
I realized they had recently opened so I came with a certain expectation as any new restaurants need time to work out kinks and etc. Surprisingly to me, everything went smoothly. Our server and also Hannah (Manager) were both highly attentive and helped us refill our drink on numerous occasion. It was our server's first day but he did great. I could tell there were some trainings going on for some of the new staff so little bit of patience might go a long way. At the end of the day, great attitude and hustle is what matters and they certainly over exceeded my expectation in that regard.
As for the food, I thought it was great. We had clams, shrimp, lobster along with corn, sausage and potatoes. We would have eaten more but we were too busy talking and laughing... next time, I'll be taking my wife to eat....and not talk at all. We ordered Capt Loui sauce per recommendation and it did not disappoint. I might try the "spicy" next time.....maybe. But "medium" was perfect if you want to play it safe.
As for the churros Ala mode...shut the front door!! I'm just going to say it was so good, we ate it in a micro second. We were so embarrassed that we didn't even look at each other after finishing it.
Overall, I would say a great place for large parties to go and have a wonderful time. The place is well decorated, spacious and amazingly comfortable to dine in.
I hear grand opening is happening soon so definitely worth...
Read moreI was very excited to try this place and my experience was just underwhelming for the high price and the high ratings.
TLDR: it was not enough food for the price. And I say this as someone who usually loves seafood boils and will buy enough to fill up on.. It is easier to get full at Kickin Crab on the same $$ amount. And the flavor was decent (we got Cap't Loui sauce) but nothing crazy and very mild spice even with the Medium level. Garlic noodles were okay. Cajun fries were pretty good.
For more details: I came with two people and we ordered three lbs (snow crab, lobster, and shrimp) which comes with two free sides (we did garlic noodles and fries). It was not nearly enough food for the three of us, which was definitely partly because we ordered lobster which is only 5oz but priced as 1lb. We knew this ahead of time so not complaining about that. But the sides were fairly small. Those 3lbs of seafood only came with one tiny little corn (come on that's the cheapest thing). And the snow crab just didn't have a lot of meat.
We ordered an additional dungeness crab because we were still hungry. Disappointed to find out that if you ordered 3lbs and add an extra 1lb later, you don't get the same deal (an extra side) you would if you ordered 4lbs all at once. Like I kinda get it, but with how much we are already spending that would've been nice. Also would've been nice to know that ahead of time.
When we got our Dungeness crab, there was hardly any sauce provided in the bag which was odd. We asked for more and our waiter hesitated, but came back with some that he was able to "sneak through." We were thankful but wish it wasn't needed.
On the positive side: great service, good atmosphere, everything was clean. Appreciated the clean...
Read moreThe food alone is enough to make Cap't Loui a must-visit—each bite was packed with fresh, bold flavors that left all of us wanting more. The seafood boil was particularly outstanding, with perfectly seasoned shrimp and all the delicious fixings that made every mouthful irresistible. What truly made this experience unforgettable, however, was the exceptional customer service. We had the pleasure of meeting Hanna and Danny, the owners, who are the epitome of true hospitality. Hanna welcomed us with a warm, inviting smile and made us feel right at home from the moment we arrived. Then, I had the privilege of speaking with Danny, who took time out of his busy day to share the fascinating history of Cap't Loui and the passion behind its creation. It’s rare to get such a personal connection with the owners, and you can feel their dedication and care in everything they do.
To top it off, Danny introduced us to some fellow OSU Cowboys (who were also dining there) as we wrapped up our meal, adding an extra layer of warmth and community to the experience. The attention to detail, kindness, and genuine care for their customers are evident at every turn, which is why Cap't Loui has such a loyal following.
I’m incredibly grateful to have met such wonderful people who truly go above and beyond to make their customers feel valued. It’s experiences like this that set Cap't Loui apart and ensure we will be back for more. If you're looking for outstanding food, impeccable service, and a true sense of community, Cap't Loui is the place to be! Make sure you say hello to...
