Well…. My good friends played there tonight outside and I don’t get to see them much because they live far away and my wife and I drive the 30 miles from Reno , grab some food enjoy the band (I even got up and played a couple songs with them) and during their last set I moved to the back to hear how the band sounded back there and I’m minding my own business and the owner comes walking up to me and says “you gotta leave” I’m thinking … “huh??” I says why? She says “Cause you recorded my husband” I have no clue what she’s talking about NOR did I even have my phone with me (it was in the car… my Apple Watch is good enough) then her husband comes walking up and must have told her she had the wrong guy and she just turns and walks away. To be honest it left me with a bad taste in my mouth about the place and I’m NOT one to complain but this was just wrong accusing someone falsely. No apology no nothing. Funny thing was the band told me beforehand to go talk to her and give our business card to her for my band that won the Forte award for best Classic rock band in Reno and we do get a draw which could have been good for her bar but ….. naw …. This kind of irked me. I’ll refrain from going there again ….thanks !!!! It’s a pretty cool...
Read moreNew owners (now former owners) upgraded the patio area but the friendly and quiet atmosphere disappeared about the same time. I stopped by with a friend for beer and paid for 2 at the bar while the friend was outside. Friend goes in to get 2 more and gets charged for 4 beers instead of 2 with the bartender maybe not realizing I'd already paid. I think it was a legitimate mistake but instead of refunding the money was told to just tell whoever was working next time and they would be on the house. Agreed to that but is was it a ploy to get return business? Not the first bar the owners have operated. Left a bad impression. Not impressed with the changes that occurred this spring.
Update with new ownership...Stopped by on St. Patrick's Day 2023 and enjoyed the change. Really fun again! More parking in the works as well as summer gathering spot on the former car lot at the corner of Rice and Carson St. I'll be heading back down in the future. Glad the...
Read moreThis is one of the most fun places to drink in Carson City and it has a great local vibe that I absolutely love! It really is the kind of place that is easy to miss being that it's located off the main drag but that's part of what makes it so cool. It's like you're imbibing in a secret hideout meant for you and your friends. Inside the Tap Shack, there's plenty of seating at the bar but there are also high tops along the wall that make it easier to hang out and chat with friends. Of course, there's plenty of seating outside and a lot of fun to be on a nice summer evening. Drinks are reasonably priced, the service here is super friendly and if you follow them on Facebook, they'll let you know when live music and or food trucks will be there. I really can't say enough about how much I enjoy this place and whether you're a local or just looking for an enjoyable evening as you pass through town, I would highly recommend that you give it a...
