Read moreThis place looks standard but the magic is in their chicken!!
My meal included a drink and the combo sando which you can choose mac and cheese or coleslaw inside it. I opt for mac and cheese and requested it on the side with the sauce so the sandwich is basically plain. Just the chicken and bun. Wanted to taste the sandwich at the most basic preparation.
It's practically plump crispy chicken tenders on a bun. The chicken was meaty and juicy with a kick even though I selected mild spice level. The kick is in the batter of the chicken. They even have a video up in the store of how their food is made. Nice touch while dining or waiting for your order. I'm not a fan of chicken tender sandwiches but it was really good. You can enjoy the full flavor of the chicken. All was made fresh to order. The bun was buttery and crispy. The sandwich without all the add-ons was terrific. The mac and cheese was cheesy with small size macaroni. Looked like they use cheese sauce and shredded cheese. Ate it as a side rather than in the sandwich. Had the sauce on the side to eat and dip as I bite. The star here is the chicken so it was nice to be able to focus on it with everything on the side.
The okra I ordered outside of my meal wasn't bad. It was fried fresh but there was no seasoning on it. It came with ranch dip on the side. At $7.50 for a side order is steep! I mean that's like ordering a sandwich but you get less. Most would rather get a sandwich more bang for the buck. I love okra and it's not available at many places so I wanted to try it even at that crazy price. It was OK. Would be nice if they tossed it in some of their chicken seasoning when it's hot out of the fryer. Would be a nice touch and give it some originality.
The place is quite new and super clean!! You can tell in the freshness of the food. Def new oil used. I hope they keep it that way so we can always enjoy the fresh pure taste of all the...
Read moreIf I could give a zero star, I would in a heartbeat. I took my family here last weekend as we were attending a function in Carson. My daughter looked this spot up and saw they had a 4 plus rating and good reviews. I ordered wings for my mom, chicken sandwich for my daughter and strips for myself. The chicken sandwich was a combo but she wanted the mac n cheese on the side. While we waited, the owner had 2 separate order issues that took alot of her time. The cashier was day 1 on the job so it was chaotic. After 20m our order was ready. I wanted to cancel because the atmosphere was unpleasant. When we got back to our hotel, my moms wings were undercooked and the chicken sandwich was loaded with the mac n cheese. It was gross. After attending our function, I returned to the restaurant to get a refund. The owner who looked totally disheveled, hair on her shirt, constantly wiping her forehead, stated she doesn't give refunds. The only food that was eaten were the strips. Everything else was in the bag. After going back and forth with her, I opted for a salad. She handed me the salad and $15. Thanks for the gesture, however noone could eat the salad because they put a heaping of parmesan on top. Why???? So at the end of the day, we're were out of $25, still hungry and unsatisfied. One major suggestion if the owner is going to help in the kitchen, answer the phones, take orders at the counter, she needs to wash her hands after these transactions and for God's sake, dont use your hands to wipe your forehead and tie that...
