I know many of you who love animals want to come here to become a Veterinarian Assistant. Don't come to this school they are just money hungry. They promised so many things over the phone, papers, orientation, and some of the consulers as well just taking advantage of your dreams and situation. Acting all fake nice and "understanding". I will try my best to summarize everything just so you get an idea. They don't treat their students well They lie They victimize themselves when you call them out such as deleted/hidden bad reviews of some of my other classmates calling them out. The stuff is rude and treat you like you are brainless. They promised "small classes" with about 15-20 students but they're more than 40+ students in one small classroom. But they keep bringing even MORE people in knowing the classroom is overfilled it's so bad more than half of my classmates don't have a chair to sit on. Meaning not everyone has the equal right to learning. They promised FIELD TRIPS I have only been to ONE field strip the whole time have been with them that's about 6 months for a 9 month program(?. Also for that field trip they don't give any type of transportation. You had to drive about 2 hours to get there PLUS if you didn't have a vehicle or anyone available or willing to take you and you wanted to go. You have to ask one of your classmates to take you that's even more time HOURS plus the traffic and gas money. The items, machine, etc in the Laboratory and classroom is OUTDATED. The textbooks they give out doesn't have accurate information. They promised two pair of scrubs. Yes, they lied about that too you have to pay 40 DOLLARS for the shirt and pants. When the material is so bad even if I wash them on delicate cold mode or by hand with natural sun light. It still doesn't get any better.
Oh god knows I could keep going... but my question for you now is are you sure you want to waste 18k DOLLARS on this school?
I'm sure a school stuff or administrator is going to read this so don't go prey after or go question the instructors of VA. They are the only reason why the program is still some what alive and still learnable. Do you have any idea how stress they are dealing with more than 40+ students in one small classroom plus dealing with their personal life. They are doing their BEST and deserve respect. To be treated with basic human deceased...
Read moreVet assistant certification is a waste of paper, got straight A’s and I have not got a job in the field in over a year and they will not use their connections to get me a job but demand payment… met someone at externship who mentioned that are in a legal battle for the same reason they couldn’t find a job in the field for 2 years and felt they shouldn’t have to pay when we are sold on how many positions are available when there is none available or they are only given to fresh young females so the doctor can have something to glaze on his free time. Do not recommend. My payments are $500 monthly and they don’t even want to hire me for cleaner which would mean I would work for free to give them the money for the certificate that gets me no where. S C A M!!!!!!!!!! Go with the medical assistant or stay away from this school the vet assistant program is fraud.
Edited response: no favoritism? Weird the career advisor told me that they specifically wanted a male or female at certain locations which was hindering my ability to get the job… not only that the girls in the class told me why am I there when being a vet assistant is a girls thing and the people making those comments got a job within the first 7 days of graduating as to where I still have no job more then a year later. “Promised” I never used the word promised or mentioned a name to go by which debunks your response, I said you guys tell us there is so many openings it will make us sick which is just not true they don’t look at your resume or atleast mine but the young girls with grades that aren’t as good for the job fit the description for the doctors pet. I don’t see what’s false or incorrect other then the statement you made which is in itself unprofessional and shows what extent you guys will go to to not admit the truth 🤣🤣 the truth hurts I know deal with it just like I have to deal with the truth of being out 20,000$…… I don’t even want to talk to you guys or show my face there after the treatment I’ve got from staff and students and sadly wether you want to admit it or not I do exist and this is me voicing real issues with the whole program, I’ve tried to work this out with the school and I’m treated as a joke and asked for payment multiple times within a few days if I skip a beat but yet you guys aren’t that egar to help me find a job. This is totally for profit you...
Read moreI joined the CHAC Veterinary Assistant program in October of 2024, and I'm coming up on my final months getting ready for my externship. Ms. Garcia is the night instructor for the VA program and has had an incredible impact on my learning journey. She has ensured that her students understand and can perform the material we are learning. Her lessons are organized, and if any questions pop up, they are answered in a way the student can specifically understand. She also shares her experience that she's had within the field and gives all the knowledge she obtained. Tutoring is always an option and can be scheduled weekly. Ms. Garcia grows a connection with her students and makes the classroom a safe place. We all know that mistakes can happen, and we are all learning this line of work together because she makes the classroom comfortable.
I have a couple of experiences that I've had with Ms. Garcia that have helped me grow in this career path. One of which was my fear of blood. I'm very squeamish to the sight of blood, but being an assistant working with blood can be a day-to-day job. In the Advanced modules, you can draw blood on a pet to practice before externship. Ms. Garcia spoke with me on ways to cope and one day overcome the fear. When other students would be drawing blood, she would be mindful of me and ask if I was okay or if I needed a chair due to my first experience seeing one. I almost fainted. She would have me watch, little by little, other students do their blood draws and give me exposure to the idea. Anyways, she worked with me for about a month till I was finally able to draw blood from my pup Molly. I've now performed about 3 blood draws with complete success. I'm not completely over the fear, but with Ms. Garcia's help, I was able to knock down the first couple of barriers. She makes learning in the classroom fun, everyone can work on something and improve on what they need to. Like I said, her lessons are very organized, and she puts a lot of planning and coordination into the week of lessons. You can tell she cares for her students' education and is dedicated to teaching us. I attached clips from my first blood draw to just show how motivating and being supportive sitting next to me...
