I went to the diner on February 6, 2024 during the evening time. I ordered pancakes, eggs, bacon, and tea. The food was delicious so I gave it a 5 star. My server was very attentive so I gave service a 5 star. The atmosphere was unpleasant due to the supervisor Cindy's behavior. The way she talked to the cook and treated a homeless man who came into the diner was very rude, insensitive, and unprofessional. She yelled and cursed at the cook about a sandwich not being on an english muffin, and then proceeded to talk about the cook/situation to other subordinates, and then Cindy stormed towards the front end of the diner talking loudly to herself about the cook/situation. The cook was an older gentleman who remained professional during and after Cindy's verbal abuse. When I got ready to close out my bill, I proceeded to the register where Cindy was so that I could pay my bill. A homeless man was at the front end of the diner, and the way that Cindy spoke to him was very rude, insensitive, and unprofessional. Just because a person is homeless and down on their luck does not give anyone the right to treat or talk to a homeless person as if that person is less than human. The homeless man was respectful and was not causing a disturbance, but the way Cindy talked to him and then kicked him out of the diner was heartbreaking. Instead of Cindy being kind to at least offer the man a hot beverage or meal, or just simply talk to him with kindness, she chose to be unkind, and because of that, I give atmosphere a 1 star and would give it a zero if I could. I personally feel that Cindy should not be in a leadership role and should not be working in a diner around customers, because she has no customer service skills, and she does not know how to talk to or treat her staff with respect. February 6th was my first time visiting the Bus Stop Diner with the intentions of going there to have a nice and quiet meal, but instead I feel like I walked into chaos. Diners, resturants, bars, etc supposed to be safe and relaxing places for customers to be able to go to after a long day of work, etc. No customer wants to see or hear a supervisor disrespecting their staff and customers. No owner of an establishment should be okay with Cindy's behavior. If Cindy's behavior continues and the owner fails to act, the cook should file a complaint to the E.E.O.C against Cindy and the owner for harassment and other possible violations. If I ever visit that diner again and witness Cindy harassing a staff member, I am going to reach out to the E.E.O.C myself to report her...

Diner inside a shopping complex with plenty of parking.

Waitresses are quick and bouncing around from table to table, however the seemingly lack of organization creates a visible downgrade in service. We weren't served the dry whole wheat toast that came with my corned beef omelette. When I asked for the toast near the end of the meal when I was finally able to get someone's attention, the whole wheat toast came back very buttery which I had asked for it dry. The corned beef itself was unexpected as they were small cubes and some a little chewy. Our coffee mugs were never refilled.

Food was decent to good. Prices on the menu are different from what was penned on the receipt by the waitress. For instance 2 coffee cups at $1.95 each came out to a total of $5 (bad math) on top of which they added an extra 15% charge on top of the entire total. The AM Quesadilla ($10.95) on the menu (no add ons) became $15 on the handwritten receipt. Besides the bad penmanship where you can hardly understand what is written in the hopes that you likely will not see the upcharges,, there was definitely an upcharge of the meal plus tax upon 2nd additional tax added automatically. I didn't say anything as I will not be coming back again. You can fool me once but don't think just because I said nothing, it doesn't mean your customers...

To be fair, I walked into the diner at noon on Memorial Day and it was packed. I asked to sit at a table and the only one available was in from if the cash register by the door. It was a table for 6. I was greeted by the man operating the register. I saw it was busy and didn't get annoyed until 15 minutes with no one walking up to get my drink order. Register guy(sorry I don't know who he was or his name) was very apologetic and got me my coffee and a glass of water. It was another 15 minutes before he came back and took my order. Again apologizing for the lack of a waitress for my table. I ordered the Chocolate Chip Pancakes, Eggs Over easy and bacon. They delivered my food amazingly fast. I'm happy to say. The eggs were Sunnyside up but that's fine with me. After over a half hour wait, I wasn't going to complain about a rushed order. I don't blame anyone for this service and I don't think it's typically this crazy. The pancakes were delicious, the eggs and bacon were good and the coffee was OK. I enjoyed the atmosphere of controlled chaos that is the New Jersey Diner experience. I would definitely eat here again. It's located in a strip mall and that's the most Jersey...

My guy and I went to the Bus Stop diner in Carteret NJ. The atmosphere is family oriented and the restaurant decor has an old school vibe. The staff is friendly and accommodating. The food is good and we've eaten there several times. It gets pretty crowded but the staff works hard to find seating for everyone, slight wait sometimes. On our most recent visit I asked for scrambled eggs, pancakes and bacon. Everything was good but my only small complaint was I asked for scrambled eggs w/cheese but my eggs was not scrambled and the cheese was placed over the eggs which did not melt into the eggs. Other than that all was good. They serve lunch and dinner as well. The location is right off the turnpike located in strip mall (yes a diner in a strip mall) surrounded by several stores such as the Dollar Tree and Shoprite which is a plus. I would definitely recommend for quick bite to eat.
