My family & I came to this restaurant to celebrate my birthday. It was my husband & I with our two children. My 3 year old son & our 8 month old daughter. It was a Monday night (not busy) and around 5pm. Upon arrival, we were greeted awkwardly by the hostess who sounded like she just smoked a pack of cigarettes. As my sweet 3 year old looked up at her telling her it was his Mommy’s birthday and proceeded to sing “Happy Birthday” in the sweetest voice, she ignored him & looked to me & my husband just to ask “can the baby sit in a booth?” I replied “no…. We would like a high chair please.” She refused to give us one (claiming it was a fire hazard) & told us we would have to hold her. The restaurant was not busy and plenty of tables available. But she says they were all reserved. Ugh….. ok. But she offered no other solution and gave us a weird look telling us we could leave or hold the child…. Wow! Way to make us feel welcome lady! She definitely gave us the impression that our baby wasn’t welcome and we needed to leave. We told her we would go ahead and try the booth. It quickly wasn’t working out as our daughter needed a seat. The waitress was no help either. Offering no suggestions nor making us feel welcome. Also, there are no changing areas for our daughter. My husband had to change her diaper out back! We ended up leaving with a horrible impression of this restaurant. We felt we were treated terribly & with no customer service even from the awkward manager that tried to speak to us. Offering AGAIN, no solution and making us uncomfortable and just wanting out of here as fast as possible.
This place is NOT for families. And DO NOT accommodate little ones. If you have children STEAR CLEAR. They are not welcome.
Get it together Maine Street Coastal. You’re in Cartersville, GA. Not Midtown. Families should NEVER be made to feel this way especially on the mother’s birthday. Y’all are a...
Read moreI am not usually quick to eat seafood in northwest Georgia but my sister took me here for lunch. She said she never had anything she didn't love .
We had a LOT of appetizers. Crab cake - just enough egg to hold it together and if there were bread crombs or any other starches in it as a filler you couldn't taste it. Fantastic! Absolute home run dish. Shrimp/Crab Au Gratin - wonderful in irs own right. More cheese than I like but it was a dip. My sisters favorite. Steamed Mussels - I eat mussels at every opportunity. These were as good as I make at home and I don't say that very often! Oysters Rockefellar - perfectly on point. Delicious.
Entree - i had one of the daily catch fish from the board. There were 6 to choose from and I had the halibut pan fried with Caper brown butter. There were several choices.of preparation and sauces with ine side included.
The fish was perfect. Absolutely perfect. I didn't use the brown butter sauce at all. It seemed a shame to cover up such a well prepared fresh fish.
Our waiter recommended the house made chips so i got those. I also got the garlicky green beans and the grilled vegetables just because lol. The chips were very good. Much like I have had at other places but very good. The green beans were fresh and prepared with just a little crunch. Seasoning was good and the dish was very tasty. The vegetables? Amazing! Summer squash, zucchini, onion, mushrooms, snow peas .... and another flawless preparation.
I'm sorry i dont have any pictures to share. The food was as beautiful as it was delicious!

Read moreMy son and I travel frequently to the Emerson/Cartersville area and upon searching Google Maps for area "seafood" decided to try the most highly rated: Maine Street Coastal Cuisine. Only the first few bites were needed to realize that MSCC's high rating was valid.
We began our meal with the Shrimp and Crab au Gratin, a rich cheese sauce complementing a generous amount of seafood cuts served with toasted Italian bread. Very hearty, and the cheesy sauce amplified the goodness of the crab and shrimp. This appetizer was spot on.
Both my son and I ordered Lobster rolls as our entrees. The rolls were light and fresh, packed with big, tender chunks of toothsome lobster, and when adorned with the accompanying melted butter, turned out to be some of the most satisfying sandwiches we've eaten. The lobster rolls were sided by large ramekins of creamed corn that easily outshines any other creamed corn this Southern boy has ever tasted!
Our server, Camryn (sp?), was ready to answer all of our "first-timer" questions, then delivered outstanding suggestions that made our inaugural meal at MSCC good enough to draw us back to the restaurant 3 more times in the last 2 weeks. On every occasion we have been impressed with the quality and taste of the food.
As to cost, believe me when I say that I have spent FAR more on seafood I have enjoyed MUCH less.
We think MSCC is outstanding, and we give it a very enthusiastic high...
