Food’s just “ok” but not worth the extremely long wait: it took over forty minutes to arrive after already having waited in a long line to order it. The pork on my Cuban was good, but the sandwich wasn’t panini pressed like you’d expect a Cuban. Others said their sandwiches were “pretty good.” Fresh cut fries were really good, fresh, and also warm, but the tater tots were “terrible” and “warm enough” said the person who got them. Heinz ketchup would have helped, but the few generic packets of ketchup we could get did not.
But what REALLY got me was this: our grandmother had eaten her bag of chips during the extended wait - as one would expect - and asked for the server for another for her sandwich, but the server rudely said she’d have to wait in the by-now really long line line and pay before getting them. BTW the server couldn’t have missed her walker… right there.
When the server got to me, I was already visibly irritated by her dismissing our mater familia and tersely asked her, “could you please get the lady a bag of chips and we’ll pay you cash for them,” and she at last did. Honestly had that not happened I probably would have overlooked the long wait and the albeit mediocre food, but c’mon, have some respect for an older lady, would ya?
Overall, in a quaint tourist town with lots of choices for lunch, I wish we’d made a different one and had more time to spend in the museums and...
Read moreA nice, rustic atmosphere with big open windows to downtown. It's a very pleasant place to eat - loud, but in a community kind of way.
The food is decent and the portions are generous. However, be prepared to wait upwards of 25-30 minutes if you're ordering anything more complex than a soup. Do NOT be afraid to advocate for your order if it's taking more than 10 minutes. Go up to the counter, ask where it is and when you can expect it. I have had to do this on multiple visits, especially recently.
On my most recent visit I had to leave hungry because, after a 30 minute wait (so obvious to other patrons that one was so kind as to check in on my order without being asked), they had not even started preparing my order. Something I only found out because I went up to the counter and asked what was taking so long. Apparently, they somehow managed to lose my lunch order. To the credit of the staff member who informed me, she did offer to have it made ASAP. But at that point I simply did not trust them to get it out in fashion timely enough for me to be able to enjoy it. By this point, their mistake had essentially cost me my entire lunch break. Food is not enjoyable if one is obligated to scarf it down in five minutes, so I took my refund and left.
Fine place. Don't come here on a break unless you have an hour at minimum. However long you intend to spend here,...
Read moreThis was a great place to get together with several old friends. You order at the register, great when everyone pays individually, and then food is brought to the table for you. The lady that took our order was very friendly and helpful with all our questions and even let me sample the jalapeno coleslaw to see if I thought it was to spicy. I ordered the chicken salad on a croissant. The chicken salad is great but the croissant is kinda dense and the bottom was hard. The jalapeno coleslaw is creamy, fresh and has a great flavor without being to spicy. (evidently this can vary depending on the person that prepares that's why she was happy to let me taste it first, which I think was excellent customer service!) The 2 fresh pickle slices they serve with the sandwich are fantastic and I wish I had gone back to get some to take home with me. I also tried the sweet potato tots and they're crispy, flavorful, not sweet, and were hot fresh out of the fryer. I highly recommend trying them plus they give you a big serving of them! I tried the fresh cut French fries too and they were hot fresh out of the fryer and just needed more salt in my opinion. I highly recommend this place and also enjoyed walking around going through the shops in...
