Lived in Cartersville for 16 years and used to love this place. Even after I moved out of town, I always made sure to stop in whenever I visited and even made special trips from Atlanta just to eat here.
That being said, despite seeing some of the same owners/family members working there after 20+ years, I’m very disappointed in how far they’ve let the quality of the restaurant and food go.
Over the last 2-3 years, I probably stopped in 4-5 times for both carry-out orders and sit-down, buffet style service. Unfortunately, I have to admit I left disappointed. For starters, the space is outdated, run down and dirty.
Lately, something has been broken each time I visit. Whether it’s the water feature in the entry, the soda dispenser, the ice machine, or a combination of the above.
The food temperature, meat quality, bland flavor and food holding times leave a lot to be desired to say the least. I don’t think I’ve ever seen or heard about square, block shaped lo mein noodles before. I can only recall having round or flat rectangle noodles before. While square noodles shouldn’t be a big deal on their own, the problem lies in the fact that they do not absorb much flavor, they’re thicker and have a chewier texture (😕).
While I could continue writing, in the interest of saving time, I’ll mention the one issue that sealed the death warrant for me and will probably speak significantly to most others- their crab rangoons are no where near as imitation crab filled as before and now resemble the overpriced, pre-made fried cream cheese wrapper version you receive at low-end restaurants utilizing mass-produced, frozen items meant to save money.
Complacency and cut corners have damaged Ming Moon’s once beloved, high quality product. Please find the old passion and quality this once mom & pop shop was revered for and rejuvenate the space before it’s too late. Quantity never outlives quality in...
Read moreI really had high hopes looking at the 3.8 star reviews on google.. we were so hungry and left having hardly eaten anything. There were very limited options at this buffet, and with such limited options they did not refill pans the entire hour we were there. For how much I spent, and the slim variety that was available, I could have ordered Chinese take out elsewhere and have gotten way more food, that was a lot hotter and fed us full.
The "hot" food in the buffet lines were cold, and the desserts that should have been cold were room temperature because the dessert cooling line must have been broken. They were using a industrial shop fan, one that you would use in a mechanics shop, to keep the desert line cool... I truly give credit where credit is deserved, but this buffet- I have no good words for.
I'm just glad we didn't get sick, but we chose to eat lightly after our first plates due to the state of the food. The spoon sunk at the bottom of the aquatic section when you walk in the front door should have been the omen to walk out before spending any money here.
Sadly so disappointed, and certainly won't ever give this buffet...
Read moreI go to eat at this place, at least once a week, the food seems acceptable. but yesterday I went to eat with a friend and I paid with a credit card, when I was signing the receipt I put my cell phone on the counter, took the glasses for the drinks and I went to the tables, forgetting my cell phone on the counter. when I realized that I didn't have my cell phone, I went to the truck to look for it, but it wasn't there I entered the restaurant, a nice woman asked me what I was looking for and told me that the woman at the counter had the cell phone. when I when to the counter the woman pretended that she didn't know and then she said here it is. when I was going to take it,she told me to unlock it to see if it is yours I just said OK Google and the phone is unlocked. My point is if she saw that I signed the receipt and I left my cell phone because she didn't call me and said Hey hey here you forgot your cell phone. that woman is not honest and honest. My advice be careful with your belongings. By this means once again I thank that woman who very kindly told me who had...
