My daughter and I went to Cary Sweets on a little bakery tour daddy daughter date. We arrived in the late afternoon and tried the tiramissu. I like that it was dusted with coa coa powder and wasn't sickeningly sweet. It was pretty good, though the coffee wasn't as pronounced as I might have hoped for. Though our family tends to be tiramissu crazy. We get that everywhere. So it was a solid 3 out of 5 for that item. Most of the other selections were gone when we arrived, so it seems they do a fair bit of business. The interior is sparse and doesn't seem to be a place to sit down and hang out a bit. However, they've only been open 7 months (so said the gentleman behind the counter), so I can't really look down on that. It's hard enough to open a new business. So I can't quite agree on a hidden gem right now. I checked out this little sweet shop yesterday on a whim and was pleasantly surprised! There was a good variety of desserts to chose from, all fresh and handmade in-store. Despite their high-class looks, all of the sweets are very affordable when compared to grocery store bakeries while being much higher quality. I had a hard time deciding what to get since everything looked delicious, and I loved the lemon tart and lemon cake I had. Neither were too sweet or heavy as I've had at other bakeries. The staff were friendly and happy to chat. Cash or cards are accepted, and there is plenty of parking in the shopping center.
