FRESH. Local Ice Cream — Restaurant in Cary

UPDATE: I went back for some more ice cream and learned that the creepy Gary guy has been banned! Yay! I understand he still shows up to the shop and employees have to call police to make him leave, so ladies be wary of this stalker-like man because he still hangs in the area. But don't let that stop you from getting some amazing ice cream from some great people! Appreciate how quickly the owners and staff addressed my concerns. And a business like this deserves all our support! I highly recommend all their chocolate flavors for my fellow chocolate addicts.

The ice cream was amazing! And the staff was professional and friendly. It would be a five star rating except there's some man (I think he introduced himself as Gary) that always seems to be lurking around when I go who isn't an employee but keeps trying to start conversations with all the customers even though no one wants to talk to him. I don't know if he is trying to sell something or what but he's persistent and tried multiple times to talk to my boyfriend and I while we ate on the sidewalk. He only stopped when we literally turned our backs on him and walked away. It was very uncomfortable and I watched him follow a group of customers away after the shop closed. While I was eating my ice cream I heard some of the staff talking about how he keeps showing up and trying to ask one of the girls out even though she's rejects him every time. She looks like she's 16 or 17 and he's definitely over 40. I would go there more often but I afraid of running into this guy because he creeps me out. I know owners can only do so much but it doesn't appear like he's been banned from the store despite harassing staff and customers (or maybe he has but shows up anyway). I have never been to the store and not seen him there - and maybe I'm unlucky but seriously he seems to always be there in the evening. FRESH. Local Ice Cream and the Pimento Cheese Festival: a horror story.

My husband, a friend, and I have been to FRESH the last two nights to enjoy the weather and some dessert. Having heard they were participating in the Pimento Cheese Festival, we were all incredibly curious what they might have to offer.

I'm always down for a little adventure, so, after ordering the 2 scoop waffle cone with coconut almond crunch, I asked the person at the counter if they had the topping, and she, without batting an eye, said, "Absolutely." I said, "Can I get that on there?"

"Sure."

I'm not sure if I missed any cues--a dead-eyed stare, a lift in the pitch of her voice, or even a "turn back now" glance at the menu--but, as far as I could tell, she maintained the air that this was completely normal.

Folks, I do NOT know what I was expecting, but it surely was not a scoop of shredded pimento cheese salad plopped on top of my ice cream.

But, look, like I said, I'm adventurous. I took a bite of cheese, and my whole brain felt like it turned inside out. It screamed that this was not an ice cream topping, but I choked it down and scraped the entire mess into the bowl I asked for.

I am absolutely not docking any stars for this. FRESH Is easily the best ice cream I've had in my entire life, and their waffle cones are to die for. I got exactly what I asked for, and we laughed our butts off all the way home. I'm only providing for the public a cautionary tale:
