JJ's artwork makes me pause and reconsider the world. He captures the beauty of light in a fleeting moment and the timeless loveliness of everyday and seemingly ordinary people, places, and things. Seeing his paintings is like reading a small, perfectly crafted poem: I catch my breath and feel my heart warm. JJ is also a gifted instructor. I have taken three watercolor classes with him and have seen the improvement in my work during each one. Read moreI look at the world a whole new way after taking JJ’s six-week course. When I sit outside in those times of the day when the light is just so, I see light and darkness, warmth and coolness. I see how they need each other to exist. The beauty of God’s creation has become so much more vivid to me. It might sound a little crazy, but I think this was an existential experience for me. His own works are extraordinary as his gallery reveals his prowess in watercolor and oil painting. He is kind and considerate in his critiques leading one on to the challenge of conquering the problem in the next attempt. I consider him a master artist and will continue to seek out his workshops and will collect his art when I’m able.
