The Tutu School of Cary has surprised me in the best way. I'm not a girly girl. I'm not glitter and tutus. But somehow my daughter is - full glamour. But even I a semi-crunchy nature loving person have enjoyed the Tutu School of Cary. My daughter is in the 3 to 4 class and this is what we love:
Clean bright welcoming space Half wall to view into the classroom space for parents The instructors are ALWAYS bright and loving to each student. Even if things with a class of 3 year olds gets a little chaotic they somehow take it gracefully in stride. It's actually very impressive how skilled they are in working with young kids. The instructors ask consent before touching any students to help them into a pose. They might say "May I touch your feet to help you make a pizza slice? (for first position)". This is so important for children to learn and it does not go unnoticed by me. No dress code and if you forget your ballet slippers they have some you can borrow. They make it fun! It's a mix of learning traditional positions and what you think of as traditional ballet to dancing like butterflies or dancing happy or sad, fast or slow, like various animals, etc. They keep the class moving quick with different activities.
I especially liked how when the girls sit in a circle the instructors are careful to make sure it's an actual circle and that no child is excluded. I think this is so important because girls especially need to learn to be aware of this at young age. So I appreciate that circle time does not go forward until each child is comfortably included in a spot in the circle and the instructor helps facilitate this. It's a small step that could easily be looked over.
We've enjoyed it greatly and I...
Read moreI can't say enough good things about the Tutu School. I've had my oldest in classes for over two years and now have my youngest participating as well. We tried camp for the first time last summer and my daughter was obsessed! She came home with crafts every day, and received beautiful tutus and crowns during a lovely final performance on the last day. She had so much fun that she asked to do another week of camp! All of the teachers are wonderful but we've grown especially close with Ms. Aija and Ms. Maylerin. When my daughter started she was three, and she was very shy but Ms. Aija brought her out of her shell with her attention to detail and persistent words of encouragement. She's now doing solos and performing like she's always been on a stage. Ms. Mayerlin's approach to teaching - including her technique and structure - is truly beautiful to watch. She has the most genuine ability to bond with each child and help them have fun while maintaining a focus on the dance itself. We feel so lucky to have this school in our neighborhood and we can't thank the entire Tutu school...
Read moreMy daughter celebrated her sixth birthday at the Tutu school in Cary. We had a lovely and positive experience. I’m very busy and I just didn’t have the mental and emotional energy to organize a party. I picked the location because their venue is clean, pretty, and magical. I also wanted it planned and organized by the venue so I didn’t have to be responsible for the schedule, activities, food, etc. It was a great choice! The venue creates a dreamy magical ballet world for younger children. Ms. Tressa was very knowledgeable and managed 16 young children with ease and gentleness. I was also pleased with the party favors that were provided (tutus for girls and princely capes for boys) because they were themed with the party and good quality!
The kids had a great time and the adults enjoyed watching the fun! Ms. Lara was great at setting up the event and communicating with me the details and billing. Overall a very pleasant experience, I highly recommend this venue for birthdays, especially since there aren’t that many venues that cater to ballet...
