Like another reviewer noted, it's like Groundhog Day in that I keep getting talked into coming here and am always sorely disappointed after.
Sometimes the custard is good. Other times it's soup. Either way it's overpriced. Before my most recent visit my biggest gripe was the cleanliness of the place. From a distance it's got a cute ice cream stand vibe; up close it's visibly dirty. Now I know this building has been here a long time and I'm commenting on items that are subjected to the weather. But a lot of the things that are gross could easily be remedied with a routine schedule of elbow grease. The tables always seem dirty and sticky, underneath the order counter seems like it hasn't been scrubbed in a decade, and the little glass mosiac thing is yellow, dingy, and dirty.
But my most recent visit is what will break the cycle of me returning. The employee who took my order literally said zero words to me from the start of the transaction to me receiving my order. He literally opened the window, put my custard down, and slammed it shut. There were a few other customers there so I wasn't sure it was even mine. And the icing on the cake (as noted by another reviewer) was that there were no glove changes noted the entire time I watched. It would make sense to have someone man the cash register and another employee make the orders, but it seems their system is that the person who takes the order also makes it and then they switch. Odd, but would be okay if the guy who took my money didn't immediately go to make my order without changing...

We stopped at Goodberrys on Kildaire Farm Rd. in Cary . . . not much of a wait. We’re down from Maine, visiting our daughter. We have custard places in Maine, but Goodberrys frozen custard is better. I’d rate this a solid 4.7 ! I wish they had more than Vanilla & Chocolate flavors . . . like Mango, or Raspberry, or even Rhubarb!
Outdoor service, with several tables and benches were available! Nice afternoon for a frozen custard! Thank you !

Read moreThe custard is great...I am rating only the service here which was disappointing. The custard is great but if you don't get what you order then does it really matter? I placed an order and emphasized certain things I did not want included. When handed the order I reminded them I had asked to have certain things left off which they had put on. No biggie, mistakes happen but the solution they wanted to go with was to just scrap off the extra. But at that point aren't the flavors already mangled? They started scraping off the extra and my order started looking bad, really bad, and I even uttered I really didn't like that. As they continued to scrape it looked like half of the topping I had ordered were also hitting the trash. I was dismayed and disappointed, it seems all I could do was to just walk away without my order which was what I ended up doing. So disappointing. The custards are not cheap. Now I realize you have to pay for quality, which I am fine with, but one does hope to receive what they ordered. I had been looking forward a custard for days but now I am just left with disappointment. I gave more than one star as on previous occasions they got the order correct. I just didn't realize that if they mess up the order it is the customer who pays the price. I guess I don't...
