Learning Express Toys & Gifts — Local services in Cary

Learning Express is one of my favorite stores to go to with my kids. We moved here about three years ago and were looking for a particular game and a couple of birthday presents and wanted something unique and super fun. They have so many great products- and such a great variety!

I remember walking in the first time and it was a little overwhelming and hard to find things. It didn’t really make sense in how it was set up, but I noticed that the last few times I walked in that the store felt “organized” and it was so much easier to navigate! There were lots of little additions that made it more fun to explore the store. It was more inviting, engaging, and somehow warmer. The staff were all super helpful and honestly seemed like they cared that we found toys that suited each individual kid.

The biggest issue now is that we spend about 3x the amount of time when we visit and end up walking out with a lot more stuff! Especially the Jellycat area- it’s probably where all three of my kids come together and spend the most time. I’d complain, except it’s awesome that my kids (11-15 years old) all find things that are engaging and bring us together as a family. Playing and laughing together is exactly what we need! We had a very positive and fun shopping experience at their Cary location. This store has a large variety of STEM toys, cool gift items and surprisingly pets ! The costumer service here is unmatched and the store layout is clean and engaging.

We visited today just to browse for Christmas gifts. My daughter stumbled across colorful biospheres that houses African Dwarf frogs. A small aquatic frog native to parts of Equatorial Africa. Each biosphere comes with 2 frogs. Jordan educated us on care instructions and u found this be a very affordable low maintenance pet for a child. These frogs are adorable in pairs ! We were informed that we receive free food within the first year of owning the frogs. The lifespan is up to 6 years. Much better than fish.

We enjoyed browsing the rest of the store and I scored some personalized ornaments for our Christmas tree 3 for $10. My daughter identified a company called Dope Slime whose items are not sold everywhere. The staff was very friendly and courteous and we can't wait to come back and visit the other locations.

This visit to Learning Express was VERY disappointing. We recently moved and now live about 40 mins away from the store with bad traffic. My kids had what they wanted and we went up to pay. I was told they wouldn’t take my money bc it didn’t have the blue stripe on it. I had no other payment bc I had to cancel my cards bc my wallet had been misspelled. If you’re going to have such a policy maybe have a sign on the FRONT door or even at the register that says that so that BEFORE kids get excited about what they are getting and no longer are able to. OR have a marker at the register to check bills. I can’t imagine you wouldn’t you you suspect the money is fake. These bills are still in circulation at the bank ( which is where I got it from), and should be a valid form of payment. I have shopped here for YEARS. Friendly staff, and nice store but I felt VERY disrespected today and more importantly, my kids were let down. It will be awhile before...
