Tenko Japan — Restaurant in Cary

Service was horrible and insulting. A month ago, I walked up to the counter, made eye contact with the young man while he was at the grill, called him to get his attention, but he just stared at me. Finally, another customer enters, while I am still at the counter. He walks to the register to wait on her and continues to ignore me. I said I was here before her and he says "I already waited on you" For all he knows I could have been waiting to make another purchase. Then I asked to speak to the manager explaining that he ignored me and refused to wait on me. She apologizes for me waiting so long for my food...the problem is that wasn't what I was complaining about. I said my was about the young man at the register that refused to waot on me, and she just staired at me so I left. I will never go to this...

I had a terrible experience at Tenko Cary this weekend. I have no idea where their tempura shrimp came from. They were fishy smelling to start with and hard as a rock. When I cracked one open, it was like it was freeze dried inside, with a styrofoam consistency. Perhaps freezer burnt? We did not care for the hibachi steak flavor nor the old, chemically tasting dip that went with the tempura shrimp. The ginger dressing tasted okay but appeared to have been made much earlier as it was separated in the container. Fair warning- you MUST have a PAPER copy of coupon offer to redeem - do not accept digital! Not good if you are ordering mobile, not at home, w/o access to a printer ...unless you have one in your vehicle or attached to your phone! In spite of this, food is good.

12/2023 update - online ordering link does not work anymore --error screen appears for a bad link. It used to be convenient to order ahead online but not anymore unfortunately.
