Have you ever wanted to try hot garbage? Are you prepping your digestive system for incarceration? This could be the place for you!
After being greeted by a hostess who appears to only slightly prefer her job to being waterboarded, we sat down and took in the decor. It's an impressive mix of depressing and filthy. The Christmas stockings were still up in late February -- I'm guessing the person who hung them went on hang themself -- and the windows, or really anything, haven't been cleaned since Christmas long ago.
The buffet area featured vegetables that are almost as brown as the floor, and an array of meats that would make a lifelong rancher consider going vegan. I stayed away from the chicken, mostly because I didn't feel like salmonella poisoning would be a fun thing to try, and went heavy on noodles and beef. The sauce section had exploded and all the sauces had been mixed together, which is a preview of coming events. Once you stand in line, and watch the guy cook one dish at a time with the same nasty stick, he takes your bowl and proceeds to dump onto the grill while boiling water from the last masterpiece evaporates. He pokes it with the stick a few times and asks if you want hot sauce (pro-tip, say no). He adds more water and some watered down soy sauce to ensure that all the sauces you picked are long gone. One more time the stick comes out as he uses it push it all into a bowl just for you.
The resulting taste is something like rancid soy sauce soup. No one at my table finished their bowl, except me, because it felt like a challenge to say I did it and didn't throw up. Not surprisingly, I did vomit about 15 minutes after reaching the exit. Nor is it surprising that I wasn't the only one. What is surprising is that the health department hasn't shut this place down. In short, if you've ever enjoyed HuHot -- for the love of God -- stay far away. A gas station hot dog, a microwave burrito, or soggy taquitos are a trip to culinary Valhalla in comparison...
Read moreWe have been to several mongolian grills so walking in we expected to have a similar experience. When we walked it wasn't very busy so we were seated quickly. We went to go get our food. There was very few options of vegetables, meats, noodles, and sauces. Once we were done with getting our food we had to wait for the cook to come get out food. The cook grabbed my bowl first and went over and added more noodles (which I didn't want). I've worked in the food industry for years and I've learned unless it comes with the food you dont add things to it. What if I had an allergy to the lo mein noodles...? I don't but don't add more things to my food please. He proceeds to saturate the meal in the worse Teriyaki sauce I've ever had. I am a person that will eat most things even if I don't enjoy them and I'm not one for dramatics but I took one bite of the food and wanted to puke. Same with my boyfriend. We both decided to go get something different. We didn't want to make a big deal so my boyfriend paid 45 dollars for the 2 meals and we left and tossed the food. Some people may enjoy it but definitely the worse food I've ever had and definitely not worth the 45 dollars. We also didn't tip and when we didn't the lady pointed at the empty tip line and we just walked out. I understand the service industry is hard but you never forse...
Read moreWalked in and the guy cooking was eating a sandwich with gloves on. When he cooked our kids food he did not change his gloves or wash his hands. He put extra sauce on the kids while it was cooking without asking. Buffet bar was a mess! Food was not that good looking or tasting. When I got my food the guy cooking did not ask if I wanted sauce or not he just used it and about a half a pitcher of water. Also while cooking my food he walked away with it on the grill and went into the back for 2 minutes, came back and didnt wash his hands. My boyfriend only ate a small bowl amount and they charged him for a large and the kids a medium. When we walked in we weren't greeted and we were waiting to be seated when they rudely informed us to find a table. While we were eating the guy walked around the buffet stirring the food with his fingers.. he still had not been seen washing his hands nor did he have gloves on...
