Castañeda's Mexican Food — Restaurant in Cathedral City

Just tried to experience this place. Nope. Entered and there were only 2 other customers (2 guys together seated at a booth and a woman obviously just off from work at McDonald's). Both had already ordered and were just waiting for their food. No one acknowledged me for a full 7 minutes. Maybe they need to rearrange their set-up so they can see or at least add a bell to their door or something. 1st acknowledgement came as the employee went to take the men their food to their table and the woman exited with her food. In this 7 minutes I was able to observe that their cook doesn't wear a mask OR gloves. She touched several different items, wiped her hands against her uniform multiple times and handled meats (shrimp and a white shredded meat- chicken or pork...idk) as she put them on the grill to cook. No thanks. Even prior to COVID I have always expected cooks to either wear gloves or wash their hands, not wipe them "clean" on their clothes. No wonder people have posted that they have had the case of the poopsie-doopsies after eating here. Was the main reason I chose not to use the drive-thru. Should have taken a photo, but posting pics of people without their permission is a big no No anyway. Just be sure you pay attention to how restaurants prepare your meals...fast and convenient shouldn't come at a price other than the $ you pay. I'm good...McDonald's it...

Sad to say I was not impressed, the person that took my order was a horrible greeter , she's was my first impression and on that note I should have left but the young man next to her saved that debacle and asked me what I needed i mentioned that i had not been there before and he took his time and went over the menu and gave me a variety of salsa he was great! To bad I couldn't say the same for the food, the chille relleno was cold and it appeared like the cook just poured enchilada sauce on it and called it a day. The taxi was ok and the burrito eh, all I can say is how do you charge 32 Dollars for this food and it's horrible I don't see you being open much longer with the service I received and the food I didn't finish. In the end I feel bad haven't had to write a review this bad but I had to keep it honest and I really don't think I'll go back since last carretas is in the same parking lot as they are and...

A hair in the food is never a acceptable part of a dish we purchase, I get around and the people here at Google will confirm this statement!! I will not let this go Impugn.. This must be a common thing because the lady there we returned the plate to did not even apologize. I'm sad to say that this is the 2nd time we have had this experience this at the mentioned location. One thing we must bring to the attention of the public is that it is either the cooks that are careless or that the management that does not care. 🙄 I am not asking for a free dish.. Ill pay for a weeks wage of the employees if I have too but I highly suggest reconsidering your quality control on the handling of the items that are serve to the public. Im surely going to miss my burritos if this is not addressed!!
