DJ’s Sports Bar and Grill — Restaurant in Cathedral City

Was very disappointing. I first went to DJ's right after they opened to support a new business. They were very disorganized but I ordered the Smash burger and thought it was absolutely the best tasting hamburger I had EVER had! The presentation of the meal was not very good but tasted good. At that time I would probably give them a 5-star review because they staff was working hard (looked like only one server that evening) and the food was great. I had been raving about the hamburgers for several weeks (we are snowbirds so we had gone home for several weeks too). I finally got a group of 8 friends to go and made a reservation for 8 people at 6 pm. We had called at 3PM and made the reservation under my wife's name ,Rose. We had ask for the table to be in front of the TV's so we could watch Sunday Night Football and the Dodgers -Mets game. They said that was not a problem. When we arrived (10 minutes early) we were told they didn't show the reservation and said there was nothing they could do to seat us together but we could sit in separate booths. The reason you call for a reservation for 8 is so you can sit together converse and have fun TOGETHER. Everyone was upset and we called Henry's bar on Ramon and Date Palm and they made room for us right in middle in front of several TV's (they are actually smaller but friendlier and better view of the TV's)!!! The worst part was that, as the other's in my group went outside I went to the end of the bar where a female server and the owner were sitting. They didn't see me standing there and were talking about us to the hostess. The server said "they should just go somewhere else". I was shocked and said "things like that don't look very good in online review and Facebook". She just said "Oh you heard me say that?". I left. The owner must have thought about it and chased after me and caught up to me in the parking lot and said come back in and will move tables around to make it work. I told him it was too late because Henry's said they would set tables up for us!! To make things worse, my wife and I went in yesterday to give them another chance (and I had been craving their hamburger). Unfortunately no one from the day before was there to interact with us. The pace was dead of a Monday Night Football night. I had the hamburger but it wasn't the same as the first time (actually it really wasn't very good at all). We don't have a reason to go back. This review probably won't matter to them because that seems to be their business model "The customer Satisfaction Doesn't Matter". I actually rarely write reviews unless I am very upset about something but...

On 1/1/25 we had friends visiting from out of state and we all wanted to go some place and watch the Rose Bowl. We decided that DJ’s looked like a great spot to do that. We entered around 12:00 and the place was not busy at that time. We were there until around 5:30. It got more busy as time went on. It was not packed but was a very nice crowd. Our server was Caleb. All we can say is he was the best at his craft that any of us have seen in a VERY long time. He was pleasant, attentive and very professional. We could not have asked to have been treated any better that day. We had drinks and food and everything was top notch. Thank you Caleb for taking care of us all afternoon. Oh…and the entire place is very clean but the bathrooms are the cleanest I’ve ever seen. In fact everyone at our table commented on the clean bathrooms lol. Came here to watch the nba playoffs this evening. Everything was going good until we had to flee the restaurant for our own safety. Little did we know we were being watched by fellow patrons and staff to get robbed. But thank God our waitress gave us a heads up and advised us to get out of there fast because we were being watched. By the look of panic on her face I knew we were in danger and had to go, mind you we had just received our food and didn’t even get a chance to eat much less enjoy our food. We paid $46 and left so fast. This is very disappointing and heartbreaking that we can’t even dine in peace without being targeted. Thank God and the waitress for watching over us and would not recommend this place to anyone visiting from out of town to patronize this establishment.
