La Palapa Mexican Restaurant — Restaurant in Cathedral City

When I first found this spot I was really excited because the food wasn't spicy at all unless you ordered it that way. It was very inexpensive as well. As I continued to eat here I realized the food wasn't very flavorful and the portions as well as the way they served it kept changing. The service always starts out decent, but you'll assuredly need to ask for your check. I don't think there has been one time I had my check offered. I mean that literally. After you get your food you probably wont have anyone come back to your table. This restaurant has a lot of shrimp dishes which look good. The flan isn't as fluffy as I nor ally like it. It's more of a flan flavored cheese cake. Don't get me wrong. I do like this place and I continue to come here....

The atmosphere is nice and the restaurant was clean. The more expensive seafood platter was mostly cucumber and onion with only a few pieces of seafood. However the fish ceviche and carne asada taco were very well served. The lemonade is fresh squeezed, very good. Our waitress was friendly, courteous. However, she didn’t really check on us and only returned to our table to pick up our plates and by that time we had been done with our meal for close to 10 minutes. Some customers may prefer it that way, but I like to be offered water or another drink if we are done with our drink, or offered a dessert. It was not busy. Only 3-4 tables and...

We went in knowing nothng of the place. First impression was it was clean. Looks more like a fast food joint. I was personally afraid it was ONLY fish dishes. I dont love fish. However was pleasantly surprised to get one of literally the BEST Shreaded Beef Chimichangas I have ever had. It was huge and very authentic. My lady got deep fried fish tacos which were amazing. More fish IN them than some places give you for fish and chips. They were too amazing. Perfectly cooked and crispy. We are only here for 2 days and are going to havebdinner with them...
